The Executive Branch is responsible for signing every piece of Legislation or exercises a veto on every piece of legislation. Things such as wars, and where money is spent leads back to the Executive branch. The Executive branch of government checks the Judicial branch by choosing which judges are able to serve on the US Supreme Court. The President chooses who becomes the Justice of the Supreme Court. The Executive branch has a Commander-in Chief known as the President. He and the other members of this branch are responsible for the making of treaties, appointing ambassadors and appointing judges to the Supreme Court. This in itself affects all Americans in the fact that we all know someone who is at war or who has been to war whether it be someone in our family or friends. This also affects the economy and the way that we spend the money that we earn and the taxes to fund the programs of the military. Another way that the Executive branch directly affects American citizens is the new laws that are carried through by this branch. A great example of this is the new health care act that was just implemented this past year. In this new law, each person in the United States is now required to have some type of health insurance. In this law, the executive had the ability to then charge those who do not have insurance a fee for not abiding by this new law. This in a direct way affects each person’s individual finances. It increase the amount of money that goes out per income when it comes to their health insurance and for those who are uninsured at the moment, will have to soon pay a fee. It also affects the insurance companies in the way that they are no longer able to change anything drastically without the consent of the
