I. ATTENTION GETTER: I am sure you all have seen a homeless person sitting on the street, asking for some change. You either gave them money or ignored them and walked away. II. Homeless people influence our community to some extent.
People that are homeless tend to steal and get involved in crimes.
Of Course, it is not easy for homeless people to buy food. Therefore, they tend to steal food from corner stores, and small grocery stores for the day. Some may even get violent with the workers and customers trying to steal a drink or some chips. Therefore, It negatively affects business owners of such stores.
Another point is that homeless people tend to do crimes for survival, It could be shoplifting, stealing food, trespassing and so on. Some homeless people commit crimes if they’re offered money for it. Others commit crimes on purpose just to end up in jail. Because they prefer spending their nights in jail rather than the streets or the homeless shelter. According to Ramesh, a fifth of all homeless people have committed crimes to get off the streets.
TRANSITION: Lastly, let’s talk about ways we can fight homelessness. III. Doing our part to help the homeless will lower the number of homeless people around us.
