Overtime, thousands of novels, short stories, and poems have portrayed the everlastingbattle between good versus evil. The infamous poem Beowulf is no more different. In Beowulf,there are classic examples of both good and evil. Beowulf, the protagonist is the Earth’smightiest warrior. He obtains god-like strength and he is a kind and faithful man. Hisadversaries, Grendel, Grendel’s mother, and the dragon are all examples of evil. Beowulfrepresents good as he tries to save humanity from the evil monsters that he battles.In Beowulf, Beowulf is sent to Danes by his uncle, Hygelac, to protect and fight thedemon, Grendel. In the battle against the demon, Beowulf uses his strength to defeat Grendel.Grendel is astonished by Beowulf’s strength. The poem says, “The captain of evil discoveredhimself in a handgrip harder than anything he had ever encountered...Every bone in his bodyquailed and recoiled, but he could not escape.” This is describing Beowulf and Grendel’sinteraction and how Beowulf’s skill in wrestling and his strength were stunning to Grendel. …show more content…
