Present Counseling is defined as a professional relationship that empowers individuals, families, and groups to achieve mental health, wellness, education, and career goals. According to Erford (2018), counseling is a collaborative process where counselors help clients explore their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors to make positive changes. This process involves the use of various therapeutic techniques and theories to support clients in overcoming personal challenges and improving their overall well-being. Counseling is distinct from other helping professions such as psychology, social work, and psychiatry. Psychologists often focus on diagnosing and treating mental disorders, while counselors emphasize a holistic approach to wellness and …show more content…
Evidence-based practice involves integrating the best available research with clinical expertise and the unique characteristics, culture, and preferences of clients. According to Erford (2018), the adoption of EBP in counseling ensures that therapeutic interventions are scientifically validated and effective, thereby improving treatment outcomes. The emphasis on evidence-based practice will significantly enhance professional practice by ensuring that counselors use interventions that are proven to be effective through rigorous research. This approach allows counselors to stay current with the latest scientific developments and incorporate these findings into their practice. Additionally, EBP encourages a culture of continuous learning and professional development. As noted by Rasmussen and Howell (2018), achieving evidence-based status is essential in the current clinical treatment culture, although it presents challenges, especially for theoretical perspectives like Individual Psychology (Adlerian theory). Integrating evidence-based practices into my work will enable me to provide the highest standard of care, tailor interventions to individual client needs, and demonstrate the efficacy of my therapeutic approaches (Erford,
...le, “Recovery of evidence-based practice” highlights the importance of utilizing evidence-based practice to care for mentally ill patients. “They also found a similar consensus in requirements that mental health care be based on evidence, be focused on effective treatments and best practices, and result in measurable outcomes” (Gordon & Ellis, 2013, p. 4).
A counselor gives guidance on psychological, personal and or social problems within their life. Most counselors can be found working in a hospital, rehabilitation and counseling facilities. A master’s degree is needed to be able to work with psychiatrists and psychotherapist. A counselor not only works with individuals but couple and families as well. Counselors give their client the ability to live independently, whether they have a mental disability or physical. Also, counselors like to give keys to success when it comes to education. They want to make sure the client has access to what they need to be successful.
The counseling session should be centered on the client and their understanding of their world and/or problems not heavily weighted on the counselor interpretation of the client’s situation. The role of the counselor is to examine a problem needs changing and discover options in overcoming their problem. Bringing about change can help change the client’s narrative on their problem in the future and/or on life in the process.
“Evidence-based practice is the integration of best research evidence with clinical expertise and patient values” (ASHA). Staff of ASHA embarked upon the new idea of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) in 2005. The goal of EBP is the integration of: clinical expertise/expert opinion, external scientific evidence, and client/patient/caregiver perspective to provide high-quality services reflecting the interests, values, needs, and choices of the individuals we serve (ASHA). The four steps of EBP include: framing the clinical question, finding the evidence to suppose the question, assessing the evidence, and making the clinical decision. Researchers have studied the status of current implementation of EBP in the field, challenges to implement EBP, the debate of adopting EBP framework in our field, and the use of EBP in SLP practice and EBP knowledge.
I believe that the art of psychotherapy is more important than the use of empirically validated treatments (EVT). I feel that the art of psychotherapy exists through the use of the common factors, which include the therapeutic relationship, client and therapist factors (e.g., personality), helping clients deal with problems, and hope or expectancy factors (Reisner, 2005). Although I do believe that empirically validated treatments may enhance the therapeutic process, the treatments themselves are by no means the most important or fundamental aspects of therapy. I agree with the idea presented by Allen (2008) that scientific knowledge is important, but it is not sufficient for the successful outcomes in psychotherapy. There appears, at least to me, to be much more of an art involved in developing the relationship with the client and understanding the client’s perspective, and if this cannot be done successfully then it is unlikely that individualized techniques could be successfully applied.
Sometimes individuals consider becoming counselors after overcoming some major life challenge such as addiction or a history of bad relationships. Perhaps an individual has encountered a particularly effective counselor or therapist and has a desire to follow in those footsteps. Others may have had a bad experience with counseling and concluded that it can be done better. People do not think of this work so much as a job, or even as a career. More typically, a constellation of life experiences that demand explanation and a sense that others seek one out for assistance and emotional sustenance become driving forces leading one toward the counseling profession” (An invitation to). .

A mental health counselor develops a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families and groups to accomplish mental health and career goals. Helping others to accomplish their goals and listening to various stories of hardship have always played a part in my life. Stories of others have helped me get through rough times, and so did my own personal stories do the same for others. My story may help save a life tomorrow. It is a rewarding career path that one may enjoy which requires excellent communication skills and a commit between each other.

EBP changes according to the client and the particular case. The social worker has to examine all aspects before picking an intervention. A systematic review of multiple interventions research studies is one EBP that can be beneficial to generalist social work practice. My purpose for selecting this form of EBP is because every case, situation, or counseling can always benefit from researching previous treatment
When you are spoiled, your character has been harmed by someone being too lenient or indulgent with you. When you are ungrateful you don't feel or show gratitude towards someone who does something for you. When you are in love you have an intense feeling of deep affection. This is by the official definition of these words. I, myself, believe these are all right and wrong in their own ways.
Counseling psychologists may seem to have similar functions with clinical psychologists, but they treat different kinds of patients, leaving a clear distinction between the two. While clinical psychologists treat people with mental disorders and more serious issues, counseling psychologists help people make positive changes to their behavior such as identifying and working on behaviors which hold them back in their life. Counseling psychologists can help people work on any and all aspects of their life for their patient’s personal benefit, but it does not extend to the more serious mental issues facing the clients of a clinical psychologist. Students interested in counseling psychology should start by earning a four year Bachelor’s degree in

The counseling practice helps clients address their isolation and create goals to combat these feelings. I feel that the practice does not bring self-awareness of just pain, but of change. A client not only needs genuineness with the world, but within themselves. Counselors can help clients figure out how they want to live presently and not brood about the
