Louisville is up by four, Duke shoots the three, makes it, still up by one. But something's gone terribly wrong. Kevin Ware is on the ground after trying to block the shot. Perhaps one of the worst basketball injuries ever. His bone came out of his leg. Kevin Ware is fine now, but he put his career on the line. Could’ve ended his career, and he never saw a dollar from the NCAA for playing the game. It is absolutely critical that college athletes are compensated because, it helps out for poorer families, can pay for school expenses, and the NCAA makes too much money. On the other side, people might say that college athletes should not be paid because it may take focus away from the game. Although, there are so many different reasons why they should be paid. For example, students can pay off debt. “Most other students are not receiving these benefits, and will come out of school with a great deal of student loan debt.” (Patterson, MAR 22, 2016). Patterson’s point is that they definitely should be paid so they don’t come out of college with a ton of debt. According to Brooke Anderson, sister of a collegiate athlete, they do need money to buy food on campus. Bassically this means that college athletes need money in order to buy food on campus. According to Toptention.com student athletes should be compensated, “Renting or buying suits for obligatory banquets and fundraisers is dear, particularly when the athlete has no selection in whether or not they will attend.” This means that if there is a ceremony, they should be paid so they can by themselves a nice suit.
