Believe that you are living in a world of gunfire, betrayal and people saying every man for themselves. Just trying to survive, make choices that will cause life or death and all this is happening because of your religion. You just want to survive, so you need to be resourceful. Thus maybe creating luck for you. You can use your skill only to help your love ones and especially you to survive that world of survival of the fittest. In the book Maus, tell about a man named Vladek Spiegelman using his skills of being resourceful created his luck, which is the reason that he survived the Holocaust and WWII.
Vladek, before the war, always studied many different languages. For examples: English, German, Polish, Yiddish and more. All these studies were self taught as well said from Vladek himself, “I had to quit school at about 14 to work… but I took private lessons”. So Vladek had very little disadvantage with intelligence but Vladek knew it was important to learn most of what he can. A useful skill to have for survival. Vladek had a normal till the war started. But when the war started, he will be needing this skill. Vladek was sent to the war to fight against the Nazis, but two Nazis found him and were about to beat him up or kill him. Vladek always try to collect and valuables that might be great for survival. Examples are a doll collection, golden watches, cigarettes, and more. He uses them for money or things that he might use on the future. Vladek mostly uses the items he haves to sale. Vladek is lucky to sale them for his life to be saved, for other lives to be saved or just to have some food. Vladek knew that items aren't like people but during the war, they were another key for survival. So happens that Vladek's resourcefulness for these items helped him have more “keys” to survive the
