There are some reasons that people had enjoyed a sense of humor in this world. What does enjoyment cause the effect on people to have a sense of humor? The cause of enjoyment can bring out a good sense of humor to others by bringing the laughter into their voice and showing the happier side to many people who faced some difficult obstacles. From my experience in humor, I see and hear some jokes, facial expressions, and fondness with other family and friends. My experience in-jokes can entertain me in some certain ways in my life when I was feeling in depressed. The enjoyment can bring something relevant to people to form the better relations with a lot of people in this world. From my experience, there are some comedy shows and movies that I watched can find it more especially funny for me such as late- night talk shows. For example, my experience in comedy late-night talk shows was The Late Late Show with James Corden, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Some comedy movies that I also find it ridiculous humourous like Ted, Elf, Mall Cop, Pitch Perfect, and La La Land. “ Programs with a studio audience, such as the late-night talk shows, game shows, and the ones showing funny home videos try to make “our viewers at home” feel as if they are part of a large group. We see and hear other people laughing, and we laugh. Many sitcoms recorded in front of an audience, and though we don’t see them, we hear their laughter, again to make the experience social. Even sitcoms that aren't recorded in front of an audience usually add a “laugh track” to create the same social feeling. (Morreall). All the comedy shows and movies have shown the audience to work hard in stimulating the humor to people. As we discussed some ideas about the humor in enjoyment, I considered that I find laughing and amusing can help people get the sense in positive
Although modern science has allowed us to develop many complex medicines, laughter is still the strongest one available in the real world and in the book. Laughter proves to be a strong medicine in more ways than one and is completely free, allowing anyone to use it at anytime. It allows us to connect socially with people, it can be used as a way of overthrowing power, and it is good for your health. As Randle McMurphy showed in the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, laughter can lighten the mood in the darkest situations.
...y different reasons. Some people even laugh when something horrible occurs, it is a method of escape from what horrors or mishaps are going on around you. “Many psychotherapists find humor a valuable tool in helping their patients to solve their social and emotional problems.” (G. Samuel) Chief bromden was having many problems once he learned to laugh especially at him self he was mostly cured. He was considered a chronic but after Mcmuprhy showed him that he has the ability to laugh and coincide with a group he was some what cured. “jokes and commissions enable individuals to defend against anxieties, fear, anger, and other disturbing emotions.”(G. Samuel) This was true in the chief’s and Harding’s case. Both of them left the institution.
According to Aristotle, “Comedy can be any colloquy or performance generally intended to amuse or stimulate laughter”. In modern times, comedy can be found in different forms, such as television, movies, theatres and stand-up comedy.
Entertaining anecdotes on the other hand, are very amusing to me especially, Jerry Seinfeld talking about his halloween. The ecstatic mood combined with the childhood memories of him talking about how he wanted more and more candy was joyous and entertained all of us. Additionally, the clever wordplay he put throughout the whole speech like up for kids and down for adults made it easier for us to connect with his story. An amusing comedian to listen to is Jim Gaffigan, who amazes his audience every single time. His appearance on Conan was especially exciting because of his satirical manner of making fun of health trends. The way he said to his wife that he wouldn’t waste perfectly good ice-cream, made me giggle a lot. The final example of what makes me laugh is Mr. Bean. Physical comedy may not be for everyone, but the way Mr. Bean used his body to exaggerate the fact that he did not want to walk up to the top to get his swimsuit so he finds another one laying on the ground while a person is looking at
Psychologists, sociologists and anthropologists study humor because it is a fundamental culture value, but they still can’t determine why certain things make some people laugh and others not. There are “humor quotient” tests that are designed to measure an individual’s sense of humor, but these tests are questionable. These tests aren’t accurate because almost all humor depends on cultural background knowledge and language skills. Not every person in the whole world, or even in one country share the same background knowledge and skills, therefore they cannot have the same type of humor. “The fact remains that individuals vary in their appreciation of humor” (Rappoport 9). Since humor varies from individual to individual, humor lies in the individual. How successful or funny a joke is depends on how the person receives the joke, humor cannot be measured by a statistical
Steve Almond’s “Funny is the New Deep” talks of the role that comedy has in our current society, and most certainly, it plays a huge role here. Namely, through what Almond [Aristotle?] calls the “comic impulse”, we as a people can speak of topics that would otherwise make many of uncomfortable. Almond deems the comic impulse as the most surefire way to keep heavy situations from becoming too foreboding. The comic impulse itself stems from our ability and unconscious need to defend and thus contend with the feeling of tragedy. As such, instead of rather forcing out humor, he implies that humor is something that is not consciously forced out from an author, but instead is more of a subconscious entity, coming out on its own. Almond emphasizes
When there is humor involved people seem to enjoy things way better, the reason for this is that people will
Laughter is an interesting topic. Mainly because of the lack of thought that goes with it as to why we laugh. In an article titled Laughter: An Essay on the Meaning of the Comic by Henri Bergson, the theory behind why things are funny is explored. He mentions many different things in his article pertaining to the comic, however, there are a few that stand out more than others. He talks directly about the fact that things are only funny if they relate to humans. Then he touches on the idea that accidents are funnier than planned events. Finally, he speaks on laughter being directly related to social setting. The 1992 film Noises Off is a perfect demonstration of everything that Bergson writes about. Henri Bergson’s essay on laughter is perfectly supported by the film Noises Off.
The results show in these chart indicate that there is no cultural gender difference in expression humor or laughter. However, there is difference in what all culture believe humor is. This information is important because it explains why something are important to some culture and not to another. What would society look like if every person laughed ten more times in a day? What would the world look like if people viewed it as endless opportunity rather than endless turmoil? What else can people turn to besides humor? How would the individual life of each person be different if he or she tried to find the humor in every situation rather than the embarrassment? What would it look like to turn on the local news and not see tragedy at every turn? The world would be drastically different if people learned to cope with stress in healthy ways, blow over everyday mistakes, laugh at themselves, and find the bright side of tough situations.
Humor is an essential part of my daily life. Causing someone to laugh and feel amused varies from person to person. What I find funny may not be funny to others. My sense of humor may vary, from watching comedy movies, to late night comedy talk shows. What I find mostly funny are Internet memes or funny Internet videos, because they have both been modified into distinct funny phrases or modified into funny videos that cause humor and they are always new ones being created, you can also share them to give someone else laughter. My sense of humor comes from my dad, growing up we would watch Spanish comedy on television together, though not all humor can be funny, because I believe there is a line that should not be crossed when using humor.
