Imagine yourself going to school year round? Sitting in uncomfortable desks learning about dry subjects rather than enjoy summer outside and with family. It can be exhausting when you’re trying to focus on what is going on in the classroom when all you are thinking about is summer. In my opinion, school should not be year rounded because children want need time to be committed to other activities, give parents the opportunity to educate their children at home, and give parents a chance to discipline their child correctly.
Why are children committed to summer rather than school? Many children can’t wait until summer is here. Some may count down the days, and others might just wait until its time. When children are in school they learn, but are not fully concentrated if in school year round. For example; some children may want to try other sport activities. If the children are in school during the summer, then there will be no extra time to expand the child’s interest. During the summer, children are given the opportunity to try time consuming activities. Representing school year round takes time away from experiencing these

activities. Another example; children would rather like to play outside and spend their days spending time with family and doing certain activities, maybe one’s of interest in the child. Summer is a great way to learn and try new activities with friends to do them with. How can parents educate their children during summer? Parents know that children learn from doing, from their friends, and from their families. Many children learn through play and interacting with others. For example; one might learn how to spell words if one here’s the word many times. When a child is learning how to spell words, one learns through reading books, and communication. Many parents teach their child on their own to get ahead start before school starts back up again. This is beneficial for the child to refresh their knowledge before returning. In the summer, many families go on vacation. These vacation spots can be educational spots in which, the parents spend time on their vacation to go to some educational destinations. For example; if a family spends their vacation in NYC, they could see the White House, Statue of Liberty, and the Wall Street to name a few. This way the child is enjoying their time relaxing and also learning at the same time. Why is it important to parents to learn to discipline their child in the summer?
Summer is a great time to correct the bad behavior their child has learned from being in school around their peers. For example; parents can work to fix the bad behavior the child has picked up to change into good behavior before influenced by others. The parents can teach them from right to wrong. This can help the child make good decisions and think before during when peer pressured at school. Also, children can be discipline through their own mistakes. For example; if one child wants to watch television right this moment and the parent tells the child not right now. The parents need to teach their child how to respond correctly and how one can be discipline if acting up. Summer is a great time to perfect the child to be better for the next school
year. In conclusion, school year round is not necessary in the summer. Children would have less attention span on what the teacher is trying to teach in the classroom. Children would rather want to be enjoying their time off from the teachers, spending their time with their families, and having the chance to try new summer activities.
Another significant reason is summer vacation needs to be longer. The primary reason for this is children need time to wind down and relax before they have to go back to school. For instance, during the summer children relax and prepare for school, if they...
The change of the system to include summer breaks was due to issues not quite under their
First, the pros of year round schooling can include; effects on absence and burnout rates, effects on budget, more frequent breaks, and also a big effect on academic achievement. The way that year round schooling works to reduce burnout and also reduce absences is that by having more frequent breaks; students are less likely to want to skip class. This is definitely noticeable after spring break where most schools don’t have any days off until the end of the year that is usually more than 2 months straight. In other words the “April, May, June stretch”. Year round schooling will also help students with their academics as well because with the way the schedule is set up, students do not ha...
While growing up, I attended a traditional school. This is a schooling method many individuals are probably familiar with. A student attends school for nine months out of the year, and then has a three month break during the summer. However, in my immediate hometown surroundings, nearby traditional schools are assessing the idea of transforming into year-round schools. Year round schooling is one subject debated in high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools nationwide. Are schools that operate 365 days a year academically better than traditional schools? What are the cost differences between the two? How would a year-round school effect families? Changing the schooling technique from traditional to year-round has numerous variables that need to be taken into consideration before any grade school or secondary education institution fully commits. Year-round schooling schedules should not be implemented and traditional schooling calendars should be maintained.
The summertime is when kids play outside and do whatever they want. Some kids even go to day care or their friends’ house to do something different, “Many children go to summer camps where they learn many of important skills not covered in school” (Cooper 3). Doing work in the summer that does not interest them will make kids despise summer. It also will not let the kids do want they want to do in peace, because they will worry about the huge assignment they still have to finish, “…the backbreaking obligation to read Charles Dickens blighted June, ravaged July obliterated August” (Queenan,1). Some might argue that the long summer will make the children forget what they learned, but if the students cannot relearn what they already knew in a month or less, that means that they are not being taught correctly. In general, summer reading makes a students' summer into more school time, which is not helpful to them.

Year-round school, also known as a “balanced calendar”, is a new idea that is being brought up all over the United States. When most people hear the term “year-round school” they often think that school will literally be all year. In reality, year-round school is still the 180 days that a nine-month school year would be. The 180 days are stretched out through all 12 months of the year, and student get frequent breaks throughout the year. Schools that decide to use a balanced calendar have the option of how many days are spent in school and how many days will be spend on break. The most common schedule used is 45 days in school 15 days on break. There are also two types on year-round schooling systems. Single-track is when all the students are placed in the same schedule. They all attend school on the same days, and they all get the same days off. Multi-tracking is when the students are placed sub-sets. In an article that discusses the overview of year-round school they explain multi-tracking, “…the student body is divided into three of four subsets. The four sub-sets rotate vacation time, so that three sets of students attend school during a given term”(Chittom).
For years, parents and educators have debated the advantages and disadvantages of the traditional school calendar, which has long summer vacations for all students. The longer you are away from school, the more you lose what you learned in the previous year. Studies have shown that children who know English as a second language benefit the most from year-round education because during the long summer break, they may not hear English for several months. Long summer breaks is a problem for traditional schools and the solution is to substitute traditional schools for year-round schools.
One reason why there shouldn't be year round school is because kids have a lack of free time. Therefore, they wouldn't have a summer break or other breaks which means they couldn't hang out with family like what kids would normally do. Another reason why they would have a lack of free time is because they would be worrying
Year round school is a bad idea not just for students, but also for parents and teachers. There than 3,181 year round schools in the U.S. alone and only 10% of kids attend them. Basically, year round school will not provide academic success. Some teachers and principals believe it will not have a positive effect on kids. According to the teachers “Most kids need a summer off from school.” Year round school schedule is usually 6 to 9 weeks long with 2 to 3 break weeks.
Year-round schools use what is known as a track system. These schools have a certain number of tracks that interchange student and teacher schedules. While some students are attending school, other students are on break. While this allows for a greater school population, it could lead to family disruptions if siblings are not on the same track schedule. This type of calendar could also lead to greater stress on the teachers because they would have to keep up with their classroom schedules if they work more than one track. Another disadvantage to this type of school calendar would be that there would be a greater need for office, cafeteria, and custodian services. Other reasons why people would think that a year-round school calendar is not efficient is because you would have students testing at different points in the year, and ceremonies and graduations would all have to be planned accordingly. Year-round schools that have many different tracks would be required to pay more money to operate the school for a longer period of time. Being on different tracks may make it difficult to compose a sports team or band. In addition to these disadvantages one of the most important would be the price for transportation, with students all on different tracks the buses would be needed more often than those in traditional
Why are so many schools changing to a year-round schedule when study finds that a year-round does not boost learning compared to traditional schools? Paul von Hippel, a sociologist at Ohio State, conducted a study which found that “students in year-round schools learn more during the summer, when others are on vacation when others are on vacation, but they seem to learn less during the school year.” This means that people on the traditional schedules have an eight month lead in education on people in year-round schools. Von Hippel explains how even though some educators say that eliminating long summer will boost academics “the results do not support that claim.” Schools should just go ahead and let students have a full
Should school be year-round? Well, I say yes because our young people will get done with High School faster. And if school is year round, students will not have a chance to get in a lot of trouble and they will not be able to join a gang or have time to hang on a block because they will not have a long summer break. Somebody needs to bring this problem to the school board to see if they will make the change to save many students’ lives by keeping them off the streets and keeping them in school all year long. If the children were in school longer, they would most likely turn out better, but it’s up to the people of communities to push kids through school.
The year-round school system causes teachers and students time to relax every once in awhile. Many teachers feel fresh and so do the students. It states in ‘Text 2’ that, “teachers and students at year-round schools experience less burnout and they spend less time reviewing material since students don't forget everything over the summer.” This helps teachers by getting more stuff done in the school year. it may also help by helping students for their next school year. Even though it has many good effects, there is no proof you around school improve students academically one of the main reasons of year-round school is to improve students academically. There has not been a single piece of evidence that year-round school can help students academically. It states in ‘Text 2’ that, “ And although one of the main reasons for switching to year-round schools is to improve student achievement, there is no concrete proof that students improve academically.” If there isn't any concrete proof then it isn’t worth it to switch to year-round
