Real Life Situation

The real life situation that inspired my TOK presentation was the writing of the novel titled Persepolis. Persepolis is an autobiographical graphic novel written by Marjane Satrapi that illustrates Satrapi’s childhood up to her early adult years in Iran during and after the Islamic Revolution. The novel depicts how Satrapi handled growing up during the Revolution and how she witnessed first hand that the new Iran had become an authoritative dictatorship. Persepolis is considered a primary source as the novel details life in Iran from the perspective of Satrapi including her personal experiences and thoughts.
