Mimic octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus)
· Mimic octopus females differ from the female of other octopus species as they don’t stop foraging and feeding while they’re carrying their eggs.
· Mimic octopuses have a unique strategy to avoid predators. They are able to impersonate different animals (some scientists believe they are able to mimic up to 15 different animal species), such as sea snakes, lionfish, jellyfish and flatfish.
· While they are mimicking other animals they not only change the colour of the body, like other octopuses, but their change the shape of their body too.
Mimic octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus) belongs to the order Octopoda (octopuses) within the Cephaloda class. Its family, the Octopodidae contains over 200 species, most of them are known, benthic octopus species. Related species are wonderpus octopus, blue-ringed octopus and giant octopus.

Their characteristic reflects their name, they have sharp spine that can sting other organisms. Their spine are covered with venomous mucus just like how some other kind of fish are covered with the venomous mucus. Their body are covered with scales. I chose an interesting artwork; Octopus Mom, a drawing that is displayed in the CityArts Factory in Orlando. The drawing is of a woman with eight arms in the form of an octopus. Octopus Mom has objects in each one of her eight arms, these objects included a belt, duster and an infant child. The drawing is in a wooden frame and is surrounded around a room full of aquatic drawings. The Octopus Mom was in the aquatic gallery; which was one of seven galleries, this gallery included fish and mermaid portraits, a jelly fish projection and fish tanks with real fish. Somewhere along the way due to its higher level of genetic variation, sexual reproduction was able to overcome the two fold advantage of asexual reproduction, and now dominates reproduction in organisms. However, some types of organisms such as worms and corals have acquired the ability to reproduce both sexually and asexually. The purpose of this paper is to explore the differences in asexual and sexual reproduction both from a biological and an evolutionary standpoint and to explain why evolution has made it possible for soft corals to reproduce both sexually and asexually.
The morphology of whale sharks is mostly similar to aquatic fish species, but many specific traits help differentiate them from the rest. Whale sharks are the largest fish in the world and can reach a size of around 20 meters (Martins, C., and C. Knickle). This is often compared to the size of a school bus. The shark has a very large transverse mouth. They have 5 very large gill slits and have a larger first dorsal fin compared to the second one (Whale Shark). They have a distinctive spotted “checkerboard” pattern with stripes (Martins, C., and C. Knickle). It is not exactly known why they have this specific body marking. It is believed that the body markings act as a camouflage. The strange thing about whale sharks is that they have 300 rows of teeth that play no role in feeding (Martins, C., and C. Knickle).
