Education can also be considered one of these economic factors. Less educated people are often taken advantage of in the housing market because they are less aware of their rights. A person’s access to resources can be affected by their social status (Krysan, 2007). Therefore, people who live in low income areas may not have access to quality education. Thus, creating a cycle where minorities maybe be essentially stuck in an area for generations due to limited access. This would also be an appropriate school of thought to talk about racial income inequality. Occupational inequality is defined as the” difference between whites and blacks, 16 years of age and over, employed in white-collar occupations” (Roof, Van Valey, and Spain 1976). There is still a high level of discrimination in the workforce especially in corporate America. Therefore, whites occupy a majority of CEO and corporate director jobs. Clustering is considered to be when geographic units’ bunch together in a specific space. Centralization is “the tendency for them to be located around some central point.” Concentration “refers to the amount of physical space they occupy” (Massey, Rothwell, and Domina 2009). Concentration will be explained in this paper as population size. The size of the city being examined could have an effect on the level of residential segregation in that area.
