Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics) Lecturer Name: Dr. I, Okoloko Semester & Year: Semester 1 - 2014 SYNOPSIS Due to a lack of interesting mechatronics display items in many engineering companies and hobbyists shops, we found an existing design that matched all these requirements: A mechanical time writing clock (a.k.a. “Plotclock”). Our group decided to figure out exactly how it worked, by replicating a rescaled version of it and re-programming its movement to achieve this. We succeeded in having near perfect numbers drawn by the clock, although some improvements can be made on its dimensions to make it more stable while operating. Our machine showed physics in many ways. It used Newtons laws, collisions, and more aspects of physics. Our project showed ten different aspects in detail. This is our machine.
On September 20, 2014, I went to the Dallas Museum of Art, where I viewed a painting by Gerald Murphy, “Watch”. In this painting, Murphy depicts the inner and outer workings of a pocket watch, with its complicated mechanisms displayed, in order to create a statement about the men who created it. Specifically he addresses how intricate the details and mechanics behind the pocket watch are, which in turn reflect the creators. Murphy does an excellent job of expressing the intended theme of men being intelligent, with the size manipulation of the overall painting and the watch’s parts, the geometric shapes of the mechanisms, and the color and neatness of the structures.
Anybody and everybody can become an industrial machinery mechanic; especially, those who are passionate about getting their hands plastered in motor oil, grease, and other mechanical lubricants. These people will more than likely be ecstatic about getting into industrial machinery mechanics. They need to be able to put in one hundred ten percent of their effort into becoming an industrial machinery mechanic. An industrial machinery mechanic’s overall objective on the job is to stop a mechanical error before it happens. An industrial machinery mechanics are often caught repairing, maintaining, and fabricating machinery. They will be required to have certain education and training as well as some on the job training or complete an apprenticeship program. They will receive many benefits for working in this particular field.
Technology has been changing through the decades from the invention of the computer to the smartphone. It is how most people in today’s society tend to accomplish things and interact with others because of their busy lives. The idea of technology can be based around a concept known as cybernetics. Cybernetics basically means being able to look at things from a scientific point of view. For this purpose, is that knowing technology and how it can relate to cybernetics will be based on the following areas. These areas include the double bind theory, feedback, systems and subsystems and
Robotics was also a major part in the military advancements that we have today, for weapons and defenses. Today the military has drones, which are unmanned aircrafts, this a huge increase in safety from what it used to be. There are also things like claymores, and mines, which can be activated just by contact, During this time during wars instead of going into an area blind and losing lives, soldiers can send tiny planes to find out how many people are across enemy, because it is able to read the temperature of the human body.
Modern media is a great danger to us all, and the people it concerns are everywhere with no hiding available from the monster that is Media. Annalee Newitz said, “With technology tracking us everywhere we go, ‘cosplay’ might become our best defense against surveillance”(Newitz). The dystopian novel 1984 by George Orwell contains within it some great examples of the dangers of modern technology and media. In the novel the population is monitored at all times by their government. By using the telescreens the government can watch their people and listen to everything they say and watch their every move. Orwell being influenced by the modern era's new technology, such as computers, surveillance cameras, and the internet, wrote his novel 1984 in
As the world progresses through multiple innovative eras of technology, the people want more inventions to assist their everyday lives. Today, the field of technology mainly revolves around the subject of artificial intelligence. In particular, a company known as Hanson Robotics, strives for artificial intelligence, or AI, to match the intelligence of a human. As a result of the increased intelligence, the technology, robots for Hanson Robotics, will have the same work potential as humans. Although Hanson Robotics believes that their robots will help the human race, they cause a potential harm to human jobs and lives.
Mimic the human qualities that covers a variety of robotics collective term used to describe the field of engineering,
Why is it that we have an underlying fear that robots will eventually take over the world? Is it plausible that perhaps robots are superior to humans; or rather, that a creation will eventually rule its creator? Despite the frightening rate of technological improvements, the robots that we create do not exceed what we are as humans because those robots cannot “think” on their own. Specifically, robots have no ethics, creativity, nor sense of self.
My research paper is on the field of Industrial Engineering. I plan on pursuing this field, because I want to be able to find a way that will help eliminate wastefulness throughout the process of production. In this field, Industrial engineer 's find ways to integrate workers with information, machines, materials, and energy to create and provide products and services, without wasting any of the resources. Their duties are to review schedules, engineering specification, flows of process, and information to understand methods. Industrial Engineers have to figure out how to maximize the efficiency of parts, product, or delivery services. They have to be sure that all their observations, calculations, and the efficiency of the product is at its
According to dictionary.com,” Mechanical Engineering is the branch of engineering dealing with the design, construction, and use of machines.” Their job is to take an idea and actually make it happen. Doing this takes a lot of knowledge and skills. They first start off with an idea that they have. Then they try to make a small module of it. They do this so they know what the product will work without spending a lot of money on it. They have to find the right materials to do this. The materials have to be able to withstand a lot of things nature has to throw at it. Like rain, dust, lightening, and many more things. After they have to make sure the produce is safe. When all of this is done they build the real thing.
Computer engineering is a very time consuming, challenging job. To be a good computer engineer you need years of experience and college education. Computer engineers provide information and data processing for certain computer firms and organizations. They conduct research, design computers, and discover and use new principles and ideas of applying computers. I am going to tell you specific facts about the careers of computer engineers like payment, education needed, skills, responsibilities of the job, job outlook, and benefits of the job.
An electrical engineer who fixes, designs, and develops electrical equipment. Electrical engineering is associated with electricity, electromagnetism, and electronic devices. Before becoming a professional engineer you need to be certified by some professional body. Once certified you will be designated with the title of professional engineer. You must have a bachelors degree in order to be certified.
I want you to think back to what might be the greatest invention ever. Dependant upon how well you know your history you could possibly say the wheel, the car, the airplane, the television, the autonomous robot. All of these are great ideas that have different eras in history, but they all have something in common, these creations were all invented by engineers. Do not get the misconception that engineers have been around since the dawn of time but the concept of engineering itself has. Those great revolutionaries all had ideas and solved problems which are still qualities that engineers of this day and age use. Webster defines engineering as, “the work of designing and creating large structures or new products or systems by using scientific methods.” Those people created new products so they would today be considered engineers, but they are slightly different. What makes them different is the field that they would be considered a part of. The broadest one of the oldest forms is mechanical engineering, which is my future profession.
When I was first assigned, the “invent your own technology” assignment, I had no idea of how I was going to complete this project. I had no understanding of why we had to create a project like this, especially when there are already various writing technologies available to us. I can honestly say, that by the end of this project I had realized how much technologies such as computers, typewriters, pens, pencils, and paper are taken for granted everyday. Dennis Barron said “writing is first and foremost a technology” (Barron, 37). This statement is something that I agree with! I think that any way someone writes should be considered a technology.
