Compassion and Heroism. People with these traits during Holocaust have helped many Jews and other people survive through many atrocities and difficult times. One event in history where a lot of people showed these traits were during the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a time in history where millions of people died. One brave person who showed compassion and heroism is Irena Sendler. She disguised herself as a nurse and saved about 2000 Jewish children. Another person who impacted majorly in helping save Jews was, Raoul Wallenberg he rescued about 100, 000 Hungarian Jews. Miep and Mr. Kraler helped hide the Franks and their friends form the Nazi soldiers for 2 years.
A foundation called Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project honors Irena Sendler for what she did during the Holocaust. They go around the world to teach everyone about Irena by doing plays, reading books, and etc. The meaning behind Life in a Jar is that when Irena saves the children, she puts their names in a jar and buries it. When the child and his/her parents gets reunited they find out their original name. The text states “When the war was finally over, she dug up the bottles and began the job of finding the children and trying to find a living parent.” This shows how

Now he is a very important person. He saved more than a 100, 000 Hungarian Jews during the Holocaust. He is also honored in the Guinness World Book of Records. In class we did a project about a person of your choice who was a hero during the Holocaust. It was called the WW2 Hero Research Project. I chose Raoul Wallenberg as my person. A quote from my project states “He rescued more than 100, 000 Jews and hungry by issuing fake documents for them so they would be secure from being caught or deported to a Nazi concentration camp.” This quote shows that he saved more than 100, 000 Jews which shows great heroism, and also giving them all fake documents so none of them will get caught by the Nazi shows his
•In coded form, Irena managed to record all of the children's true identities and their temporary identities. All of the children's true identities were buried in a neighbor's yard, across the street from German barracks, underneath an apple tree.
There are many heroic individuals in history that have shown greatness during a time of suffering ,as well as remorse when greatness is needed, but one individual stood out to me above them all. He served as a hero among all he knew and all who knew him. This individual, Simon Wiesenthal, deserves praise for his dedication to his heroic work tracking and prosecuting Nazi war criminals that caused thousands of Jews, Gypsies, Poles and other victims of the Holocaust to suffer and perish.
Irene Gut Opdyke saved the lives of sixteen Jews during the Holocaust. Her reasoning? She believed that all Jews shouldn’t be treated as anything less than a human being. She says ”My mother taught me to keep my heart, my hands, and my ears, open for anyone who is needy.” Irene’s morality was a huge part of her decision to rescue.
Charles Coward was a World War II prisoner of war(POW). Charles used his smarts to escape and saved hundreds of Jewish lives from the concentration camp Auschwitz. He was also part of the Nuremberg Trials to bring down the Nazis. This makes Charles Coward was one of the most interesting World War II heroes due to his early life, personality, and bringing Nazis to justice. Due to Charles’ achievements, he will be remembered as a World War II hero.
In conclusion, Elie Wiesel is one of the most famous Holocaust survivors, and helps spread equality all over the world by speaking out against violence in other countries like Russia and Africa and trying to keep world peace.
He was one of many that helped hide Jews during the holocaust, and or helped Jewish people escape the holocaust horrors, proving that he is an upstander of the holocaust. Wallenberg decided to help many people for the couple of years that he was in Budapest. Raoul Gustav Wallenberg would be remembered for something like this until the day that he died. Raoul’s bravery, kindness, help, and support towards the Jewish people showed that he cared enough to help them when he could have stayed in Sweden and ignored the letter. Raoul Wallenberg is truly a holocaust upstander, because without people like him we would have ne Jewish people left to be our friends, or our family. This shows how Raoul Gustav Wallenberg is a holocaust
There was a reason why Wiesel made it out of the camps, and millions of others did not. He made a difference in the world. He educated so many people about the pains of the Holocaust. Since we now know about it, we should not be ignorant and pretend that there are no other problems in our world, because there are. Now that we know this, and we know what has happened in the past, we should do everything we can to prevent this from happening in the future.
Ervin Staub, a holocaust survivor from Hungary and a scholar on altruistic behavior, has written, "Goodness like evil often begins in small steps. Heroes evolve; they aren't born. Very often the rescuers make only a small commitment at the start, to hide someone for a day or two. But once they have taken that step, they begin to see themselves differently, as someone who helps. What starts as mere willingness becomes intense involvement.
Anne Frank was a 13-year-old Jewish girl who was thrown into one of the worst periods in the history of the world; the Holocaust. Though she went through awful things that many people will never experience, she always kept the faith that there was still some good in everyone. She once said, “Despite everything I still believe people are truly good at heart.” Her diary, which she kept while her family was in hiding from the Nazis, shows the triumph of her spirit over the evil in the world even through the pain of adolescence. The Franks and Van Dans were hiding and they suffered many hardships, mentally and physically. Many people in Anne’s situation would have become bitter and resentful, but Anne never would despair.
Through his actions he became an international notoriety. Wallenberg transformed the lives of many. There has been various organizations trying to discover his death. Statues and monuments were created throughout the world. To this day people continue to recognize the hope Raoul Wallenberg brings. In 1981 the United States presented a honorary citizenship to to Wallenberg, which has only been done once before to Winston Churchill. In 1986, Israel joined in and made Wallenberg the first non-jew to receive this accomplishment. In addition, there was a miniseries about his life called Wallenberg. Lastly and the most recent thing to happen, Barack Obama honored Wallenberg with the Congressional Gold Medal in 2012 (Biography.com Editors). World War Two was filled with despair and tragedy, however that where people like Raoul Wallenberg who brought hope to Hungarian Jews and people

Should you risk everything you have to help others? Everyone agrees that many Jews were killed during WWII, but some say that people should not have helped them, while others believed that they should have.
I believe. In my English class we were learning about Anne Frank and her life during the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, many people, mostly Jews lost their lives; Anne was one of the 6 million Jews who died. Before her family and everyone else were taken to concentration camps, Anne liked writing in her diary.
researching Raoul Wallenberg it is important to consider his early live, saving the Jews, and mysterious disappearance. He saved Jews in varius methods such as Protective passports and save housing. People thought highly of him for saving so many Jews. Raoul Wallenberg mysteriously disappeared. There have been sightings of him in the soviet prisons, but no one really knows his true fate.
Heroism can show itself in many shapes and forms from ordinary people to heroic and courageous people something to think about is that anyone can show heroism. A lot of people have shown heroism just by doing the right thing such as just helping someone or not acting mean towards others. heroism can show itself in many different forms but sadly some ordinary people don’t get recognized for the heroic acts that they do. Many different people just don’t recognize heroism from ordinary people as they just think of superheroes and supervillains. In reality anyone can achieve heroism as long as they strive for it. While ordinary people can sometimes not be recognized for acts of heroism, these heroes are courageous and can defeat all of the challenges
