International Adoption
When it comes to international adoption, it’s a rendering long process, that is risky, but can be extremely beneficial to the adopters and the child. All over the world there are many children who yearn for a stable, warm, loving family and environment to call home.
When adopting a child internationally there is a long process has to be followed. The first step to take is choosing a qualified adoption service provider to be a guide in placement. Before choosing a provider, contact the state’s licensing organization to see who is licensed in different locations. A big step is meeting with multiple agencies before choosing. Once an agency has been chosen, request a list of the agency’s fees in case of add ional fees, a copy of all contracts being signed, and a copy of that agency’s refund policy. However, some countries do not allow single parents to adopt, and others have age and income requirements. Are you eligible to adopt? USCIS approval is a home study that determines a person’s eligibility to adopt. Social care workers usually prepare home studies. Once a home study has been completed, prepare one of the two forms. Form I-600A- application for advanced processing of suitability of orphan petition, or I-800A-application for determination of suitability to adopt a child from a convection country. To bring a child home to the United States you have to fulfill three governmental authorities: country of which the child resides, the US federal immigration law, and the person adopting state of residence. This protects the child and the birth and adoptive parents. Hague Adoption Convention is an international accord of international adoptions. A new requirement for this is that any...

... Adopting a child also gives them a chance to better themselves, and it gives the child a future that without the help of their adoptive parents they would not have ever had. (Martin, Cynthia D.)
To conclude, when it comes to international adoption, it’s a complicated long process, that has many risks involved, but International Adoption should still be encouraged. The risks include long wait times, suspensions of adoptions, little if any medical records, and developmental, emotional, and mental issues. However, this should not discourage one. The benefits of adopting a child internationally are greater than the risks. The adoptive parents would be giving them a much needed stable environment, a better life experience, and a future that without the adoptive parents the child would not have had. International adoption is an alternative way of starting a family.
Since the beginning of time, people have been adopting. Whether or not the adoption process is for everybody is a debatable topic. Adoption occurs all over the world and is the cause for an impact on not only the children being adopted, but also an impact on those who adopt. Whether it’s nationally on internationally adoption is everywhere and will continue to grow in popularity as the years go on.
For a mother or father to learn that their adopted child, who they believed was an orphan, actually has a caring and loving family is heartbreaking. Adoptive parents feel guilty. The children yearn for their true home. The biological family feels deceived and desire for their child to return. This situation is far too familiar within intercountry adoption cases. Many children are pulled away from home, put into orphanages, and painted as helpless orphans. The actions perpetrated by adoption agencies reflects an underlying network of corruption and exploitation. This is not for the purpose of discouraging international adoption, but to shed light on the horrific practices taking place behind the scenes. Intercountry adoptions are often tangled
There are many children in the world; every child has a parent. However, some parents are more mature than others. Some people are meant to be parents and, some people start out good parents but engage in some bad habits along the way. This is why there’s a foster care system and adoption in case that parent relies on their bad habits the rest of his/her life. Argys, studies “Every year, a large number of children in the United States enter the foster care system. Many of them are eventually reunited with their biological parents or quickly adopted” (933-954). This is so helpful to children because if they are in foster care, there provided with everyday needs and even some wants. This way they can stay in a stable environment and have rules to follow to stay out of trouble.
Parents have the tendency to overlook how lucky they are to have had the ability to create their own children. Many do not recognize what a true blessing it is to have kids, and that others are not fortunate enough to experience that miracle. Ten percent of couples endure infertility (Advantages) so they must consider other options. A very popular choice is adoption. It is not only a good alternative for the couple, but also for the child who needs a loving home.
The analysis explored in this document is implementing a program UNIT for parents adopting a different race from their own. Adopting outside of a race is a life altering decision because of regulating mechanisms that condition people to accept or reject individuals based on their appearances. There are not any programs that guide transracial adoptions after they occur. Society as a whole has its own prejudices. The adoptive parents should know about their children’s cultural backgrounds. Society is not very conscience of prejudging it is just something that is a part of life. This is unfortunately one more issue dealt with by adopted children.
Think back to your very first memory. Are you baking cookies with your mother? Are you throwing a baseball with your dad? Now, imagine your childhood if you did not grow up with a loving family who supported you and cared for you. Alternatively, maybe you grew up in a negative environment therefore; you understand what it is like to feel unloved. What does this have to do with adoption? There are over 1.5 million children without a family in the United States. 1.5 million children do not know what it is like to feel as though they have a purpose. The only way to solve this problem is through adoption because it provides that positive environment that the child never had. Through my research, I have found that domestic adoption is a better option for families in the United States, versus international adoption. One of the main reasons it is a better option is that domestic adoption is much less expensive in the end. A second reason domestic adoption is superior is that it is a faster process. It is quicker because the parents do not have to go through the stubborn and often very difficult adoption agencies. Also, you do not have to travel to the foreign country multiple times to meet with the agency and go through all the extensive paperwork. The last reason domestic adoption is the better option is that the child has the option to meet his or her birth parents later in life. A child who is adopted internationally often does not have any family records or medical history. Despite people saying there is not a need for adoption in the United States, as of the Census in 2000, there are over 1.5 million children ready to be adopted nationally.
...edical history and I was able to have a relationship with my family and not have the added stress of not knowing where I come from. I did not experience any disadvantages from being adopted however, when I looked at the stages one goes through as they get older I can apply them to my life. I feel I may have skipped some stages , but I did question why my mother could not get off the drugs to be able to take care of me and my siblings, however I know it’s not personal because she did not raise any of my siblings. Adoption is something that one is fortune to be loved and to be picked by a family, however I think it is important to be aware of the physical, cognitive and emotional aspects of adopting someone. Overall, I know that I will encounter and adopted student and to be able to have a teacher who was adopted will only help me build a relationship with that child.
Adoption is the complete and permanent transfer of parental rights and obligations, usually from one set of legal parents to adoptive parents(Ademec 27). Not until the late 19th century did the U.S. legislative body grant legal status to adoptive parents. This is when children and parents started to gain rights and support from the government. Through the years new laws have been passed and amended to keep the system fair to all adoptive parents. In 1994, Congress passed the Multiethnic Placement Act, making it illegal to delay the placement a child to find a racially matching family. In 1996 the Multiethnic Placement Act was amended to say, “One can not use race as a routine consideration in child placement”(Lewin sec.A). Before 1994, it was difficult to place a black child with white adopters. Last year 5,000 children were adopted from Europe, and 6,000 from Asia, while 183 came from Africa.(Lewin sec. A). The number of out-of-country adoptions are so high because of the requirements and regulations one must follow in the U.S. The requirements include being 21, and include being committed and loving. The home income must be adequate enough to support the family. Passing all of the medical exams and filling out the personal information is mandatory. But the main reason people adopt from overseas is because it is much quicker. A person can adopt a child from another country in a matter of months. In the U.S. the wait can exceed 5 years, which is why some people choose international adoption.
Statistics show that the rate of adoption has grown since the 1900s. In 1944, about 50,000 adoptions took place in the U.S. The greatest known number of adoptions took place in 1970 when 175,000 children were adopted. Currently, there is only limited statistical information on U.S. adoptions. (Child Welfare Information Par. 2) The most complete statistics were gathered by the National Center for Social Statistics (NCSS) from 1957 through 1975. Most new statistical information about adoption is being gathered and analyzed by private organizations, through private surveys and research. (National Adoption Information Clearinghouse, http://statistics.adoption.com/information/adoption-statistics-overview.html)
When a couple or individual decides to adopt a child, they know they are going to take on the responsibility of taking care of someone else’s child. Due to the biological parent(s) who can’t take care of that child anymore, because of either drug abuse, alcohol abuse, abuse to the child or if the parent(s) had died and there is no other care for the child. So that’s why this gives other couples who cannot have kids, the opportunity to promise themselves to be a great parent to a child in need. Though there are some bad things about adoption as well. Like adopting a child from another country of another race, because once that child is adopted into an American family, he or she will be cut off from their culture and never know about their history. Everyone should to know about their culture and history.
We need to remember that the adoption process is not all about the family deciding to adopt, adoption is also extremely beneficial for the birth mother as well. Adoption may be a very hard choice for most birth mothers. Giving up a child is a very hard choice but in some circumstances it is the right option for the birth mother. For a woman who may not be ready mentally, financially, or physically care for a child adoption is a great choice. Adoption grants the birth mother a second chance at fulfilling her future goals, while ensuring that her child will be raised in a home with a loving family who have always dreamed of having children (Birth Mother Benefits).

“Adopting one child won 't change the world: but for that child, the world will change.” (Unknown)(Buzzle.com). Adoption can take place in multiple shapes, forms, and fashions. You can adopt from a local adoption agency, or adopt from an orphanage half way around the world. You can adopt a child whose parents are no longer living, or you could adopt from a young mother who is not ready to raise a child. You can adopt one child who has touched your heart from an orphanage in Uganda, or a set of triplets being moved around from house to house in foster care. There are still further motivations and reasons for adopting. What if you and your spouse are unable to become pregnant? The desire to be parents does not diminish with the lack of
The best things in life come free to us. Our parents are one of the most important and fundamental in our life. However, people generally wonder, do adopted children feel the same way we do? Adoption is not easy, it's full of risks, simply because no one is aware of the future, the person adopting a child will never know how the child will react once he's aware he's adopted. Will they grow to love them, hate them, admire them or fear them? All of these unanswerable questions makes any person think twice before having the courage to adopt. Adoption never fails to put down any parents' feelings, whether they were homeless, abandoned, poor or runaway children and also families who don't have the option of being biological parents, the pleasure it gives to all of those people exceeds all of it's expected problems. However; adoption has some positive sides. It's one of life's fair treaties. It gives hope and integrity to the families who weren't fortunate to conceive; moreover, it changes the life of the child forever mostly positively. That's why many people support adoption worldwide.
Whether a parent is considering placing a child up for adoption, or a couple is looking to adopt, adoption is a long and hard process. Because most parents who place their child up for adoption feel they are ”unfit” to be a parent in one way or another, adoption is a great thing. Adoption is done out of love for a child. By placing a child up for adoption, a parent is allowing a child the right to grow up in a family who will love and support them, which may not have been possible without the adoption process.
