Domestic versus International Adoption
Think back to your very first memory. Are you baking cookies with your mother? Are you throwing a baseball with your dad? Now, imagine your childhood if you did not grow up with a loving family who supported you and cared for you. Alternatively, maybe you grew up in a negative environment therefore; you understand what it is like to feel unloved. What does this have to do with adoption? There are over 1.5 million children without a family in the United States. 1.5 million children do not know what it is like to feel as though they have a purpose. The only way to solve this problem is through adoption because it provides that positive environment that the child never had. Through my research, I have found that domestic adoption is a better option for families in the United States, versus international adoption. One of the main reasons it is a better option is that domestic adoption is much less expensive in the end. A second reason domestic adoption is superior is that it is a faster process. It is quicker because the parents do not have to go through the stubborn and often very difficult adoption agencies. Also, you do not have to travel to the foreign country multiple times to meet with the agency and go through all the extensive paperwork. The last reason domestic adoption is the better option is that the child has the option to meet his or her birth parents later in life. A child who is adopted internationally often does not have any family records or medical history. Despite people saying there is not a need for adoption in the United States, as of the Census in 2000, there are over 1.5 million children ready to be adopted nationally.

Adoption is in place to balance, to nurture and create a structural environment of safety in which the child can thrive and develop into a productive individual contributing to society. Also, it allows older children to abandon old maladaptive behaviors and make their first steps toward the construction of new behaviors influenced by their new environment. In years past, parents who adopted a child as an infant often debated whether to tell him or her about the adoption. Many children grew up not knowing they were adopted, and the birth mother’s identity was kept secret from those who did know (Ashford, LeCroy and Lortie 249). This paper provides facts on widely acceptance option of open adoption rather than the traditional practice of closed adoption. Adoption separates real biological family members, removing the adopter heritage whether the adoption is open or closed. Open adoption can lead to problems, but there are proven facts that open adoption is the best option for all parties working together in the best interest of the children.
Sealed records for adoptees should be illegal due to the emotional, medical and the history of an adoptee. How is sealing a person’s life away upon any kinds of adoptions and never allowing them to know who they are, where they came from, and their medical background be close to right? How can being for sealed records ever help the ones who really need the support?
Parents have the tendency to overlook how lucky they are to have had the ability to create their own children. Many do not recognize what a true blessing it is to have kids, and that others are not fortunate enough to experience that miracle. Ten percent of couples endure infertility (Advantages) so they must consider other options. A very popular choice is adoption. It is not only a good alternative for the couple, but also for the child who needs a loving home.
According to American academy and adolescent psychiatry, about 120,000 children are adopted in the United States alone. That is a lot of children that need to find a new home to stay in. Not only do adoptions affect the child after they are adopted, no matter the age; but adoption also affects the parents giving their child up for adoption. There are many types of adoptions. Along with that, there are many reasons for giving the child up for adoption. There are three main perspectives that I will be talking about. One function would be the structural functionalism. How society cooperates. The second would be the conflict perspective. The third would be symbolic interactionism approach. There are many different aspects of adoption, making it
Orphaned children should not be denied a family who wants to adopt them and they should not be stripped away from their adoptive families due to their race. Children are said to be the greatest gift that God blesses humans with. Sadly, some people struggle in receiving this precious gift due to infertility. Thankfully, adoption is an option these people have. However, due to racial diversities, families are often unable to adopt a child.
Adoption is the complete and permanent transfer of parental rights and obligations, usually from one set of legal parents to adoptive parents(Ademec 27). Not until the late 19th century did the U.S. legislative body grant legal status to adoptive parents. This is when children and parents started to gain rights and support from the government. Through the years new laws have been passed and amended to keep the system fair to all adoptive parents. In 1994, Congress passed the Multiethnic Placement Act, making it illegal to delay the placement a child to find a racially matching family. In 1996 the Multiethnic Placement Act was amended to say, “One can not use race as a routine consideration in child placement”(Lewin sec.A). Before 1994, it was difficult to place a black child with white adopters. Last year 5,000 children were adopted from Europe, and 6,000 from Asia, while 183 came from Africa.(Lewin sec. A). The number of out-of-country adoptions are so high because of the requirements and regulations one must follow in the U.S. The requirements include being 21, and include being committed and loving. The home income must be adequate enough to support the family. Passing all of the medical exams and filling out the personal information is mandatory. But the main reason people adopt from overseas is because it is much quicker. A person can adopt a child from another country in a matter of months. In the U.S. the wait can exceed 5 years, which is why some people choose international adoption.
When a couple or individual decides to adopt a child, they know they are going to take on the responsibility of taking care of someone else’s child. Due to the biological parent(s) who can’t take care of that child anymore, because of either drug abuse, alcohol abuse, abuse to the child or if the parent(s) had died and there is no other care for the child. So that’s why this gives other couples who cannot have kids, the opportunity to promise themselves to be a great parent to a child in need. Though there are some bad things about adoption as well. Like adopting a child from another country of another race, because once that child is adopted into an American family, he or she will be cut off from their culture and never know about their history. Everyone should to know about their culture and history.
International adoption is also extremely beneficial because it brings other cultures into their homes. Overall adoption positively affects families in many different ways, the parents now have a child to care for like they have always wanted and the adoptee has a forever home that they can maintain a happy healthy life in instead of being placed in foster homes or even worse orphanages. We need to remember that the adoption process is not all about the family deciding to adopt, adoption is also extremely beneficial for the birth mother as well. Adoption may be a very hard choice for most birth mothers. Giving up a child is a very hard choice, but in some circumstances it is the right option for the birth mother.
Adoption comes from harm and loss, but it is intended to provide a nurturing, therapeutic family environment. There is now a waiting list of Romanian families who want to adopt. International adoptions will be reintroduced in Romania and there is constant pressure to do so. The Romania's social services will be unable to resist the cash that the foreign adoption agencies can offer. International adoption might pose risks in any individual case but it remains the best way to achieve a stable nurturing family life for thousands of children who don't have one. This however gives insurance that children retain their right to a family and protection. Both Murray and Whitehead can agree that international adoption has it benefits and hopefully Murray can see that sometimes the benefits of international adoption outweigh all the negative outcomes that come from it. International adoption gives home to kids in need and gives the kids a home they have always

Family is a group of people who loved each other. They have an emotional bonding to their family members. According to Wilson (2014), A family may include aboriginal families; Multiracial families; Family who are older; adopted families; family who are newcomers to Canada etc. (p.2). "Adoption" is a legal process in which the rights and responsibilities of real parents transfer to adopted parents. After this process, adopted parents become the real parents of the child. In Canada, each province and region have different rules and regulations about adoption process. In this process, there is a number of policies and procedures. In Canada, adopted families are categorized into different types. There are two of domestic adoption which are private
Or what about a situation where a child you closely know is in need of a loving family? Maybe you were adopted, or your life has been deeply touched by adoption. Wouldn 't you want to benefit others lives in the same way? Now of course there are numerous hardships and dangers of adoption as well. The process of adoption can take anywhere from quite a few months to several years. You must connect with adoption agencies, complete home studies, submit important documents, and fill out possibly endless amounts of paperwork. The financial implications can also be quite large for the different required services to become an adoptive family. Also, when adopting, you don 't always know what you are getting yourself into. What health or behavioral issues will my new child have? Will they be strong and healthy? Or was their birth mother irresponsible during pregnancy causing developmental issues? All these aspects from how to adopt, why to adopt, and hardships of adoption will factor into ones decision to adopt and pursuing that decision, or
The best things in life come free to us. Our parents are one of the most important and fundamental in our life. However, people generally wonder, do adopted children feel the same way we do? Adoption is not easy, it's full of risks, simply because no one is aware of the future, the person adopting a child will never know how the child will react once he's aware he's adopted. Will they grow to love them, hate them, admire them or fear them? All of these unanswerable questions makes any person think twice before having the courage to adopt. Adoption never fails to put down any parents' feelings, whether they were homeless, abandoned, poor or runaway children and also families who don't have the option of being biological parents, the pleasure it gives to all of those people exceeds all of it's expected problems. However; adoption has some positive sides. It's one of life's fair treaties. It gives hope and integrity to the families who weren't fortunate to conceive; moreover, it changes the life of the child forever mostly positively. That's why many people support adoption worldwide.
What is adoption? Adoption is a legal process by which permanent legal custody is transferred from the birth parent to other parents. In this case Adoption is the process of making a child your own. Adoption is usually a process from non-biological parents. There are far more people wanting to adopt babies than there are babies to be adopted, only about twenty thousand babies a year are put up to be adopted, if an adoption agency places your baby up for an adoption only the best fit family can choose to adopt your child. All adoptions involve some form of consent – an agreement by the birth parent that the child should be adopted. If there are no living birth parents or the child was abandoned, then the consent must be given by the state or country where the child is a resident. Kinship adoptions occur when the birth parents are unstable to care for a child and some member of the child’s family seeks to adopt him or her.
Whether a parent is considering placing a child up for adoption, or a couple is looking to adopt, adoption is a long and hard process. Because most parents who place their child up for adoption feel they are ”unfit” to be a parent in one way or another, adoption is a great thing. Adoption is done out of love for a child. By placing a child up for adoption, a parent is allowing a child the right to grow up in a family who will love and support them, which may not have been possible without the adoption process.
