The United States is considered a nation of immigrants. Immigration is referred to as the act of coming into a foreign country for the intent of permanent residency. Immigration can happen for multiple reasons: political, economic, religious or personal. The United States acts as a magnet where it attracts people from around the globe. They see America as a land of opportunities and this leads to issues of immigrants arriving illegally.
A huge issue regarding illegal aliens is the effect they have on the economy. First, they do not pay taxes but they receive taxpayers benefits, such as public schooling and health care. Illegal immigration has become a huge problem in the United States because of the lack of enforcement by the federal government. It is not an act that simply stops at the borders. There are constant acts of drug smuggling, identity theft and other forms of law breaking even after arriving. These illegal aliens are not paying their dues to the country and, in turn, are hurting the economy, and they are taking advantage of the health and school systems. Immigration is not a bad thing. The United States was built on immigrants, but there needs to be stricter enforcements to protect US sovereignty.
