Essay On Dangers Of Computer

946 Words2 Pages

There are many dangers computers users face that can put them and others at risk. Most computer users believe that they are not targets or don’t have anything worth stealing. But the internet can be dangerous, because computers can be a spring board for others to attack. For example, a hacker’s endeavor is to get into someone’s computer in order to have access to their identity, finances, and personal information. They can also use your computer to send scams and other false documents such as emails, which can be used for phishing other sites.
The economic dangers in the corporate world can be costly if a hacker can get into a company’s system. The dangers are very great, and we see it time and time again. We see major web-sites that are hacked all the time. This can alter the foundation if they have an income standard, which can greatly affect a company’s credibility. An example is the denial of service attacks this past February of millions of customers that had their credit card information hacked at Target, are all prime examples of the dangers we face using computers.
Companies are losing private information. The web-site for the television show "Survivor" had the big ending of their series stolen off the web site. . . .There are enormous risks out there if you're a business. However, on the positive side, these risks can be controlled. This is nothing new. None of them are new for the internet. If you owned a brick and mortar building, would you worry about graffiti? You would probably worry more about someone breaking in and stealing your valuables. If you are a business like Target, you worry about losing money and credibility, not whose going to steal the next item or get caught shoplifting.

But if you do use other computers, make sure you delete the temporary files and all of your history before you log off. Last but not least, use caution when you browsing the web. Make sure you log out completely. Choose unique passwords and don’t respond to emails requesting your information.
Me personally, I believe the internet will never be secure, but that's my opinion. The real world is an insecure place. Anybody can be killed, but yet we all try to live happy lives. So the internet will be no more secure than walking through the streets of Chicago. The reason we have security in our daily lives is because we have a legal system. We have societal rules. We have culture that makes our city and our world safe, and I see the same thing happening with the internet.
