Bioindicator’s are different types of living organisms that responds to different types of effect in the human environment. Lichens are a special type of Bioindicator that are used for air pollution. One main type of pollution is the sulfur-oxide pollution, which they get their personal needs from the atmosphere rather than from the soil in the ground. The lichens also react to the air pollution all- year round rather than a few months at a time. Lichens are also inexpensive to use for evaluating the air pollution. Lichens can also be used for some other things that different organisms can’t be used for. Lichens are closely associated with two very different organisms’ called alga and fungus. They all live in a symbiotic association. Lichens have special abilities that help them survive during extreme temperatures and extreme sources of moisture. Lichens have 3 different types of growth form: crusty which the edges are flat and hard to remove, leafy which the top and the bottom layers are different, then lastly you have the shrubby kind which is kind of similar to the Spanish moss when it’s hanging downwards. Lichens are widely use as environmental indicators and Bioindicator. Just say that the air is badly polluted with the sulfur dioxide then there possibly wouldn’t be any lichens being presented in the atmosphere. If the air is clean then the lichens would become more abundant. Some lichen species can handle some high levels of pollution and some are mostly found on pavement, walls and tree bark in urban areas. Lichens and acid doesn’t mix at all, all of the acidity from the rainfall mixed with the sulfur oxide is not good for the lichens, the lichens end up dying from the particles mixed in with the rain. Lichen is a type of symbiotic organism which means it interacts between two different organisms living in close physical association; typically they help each other out. In other words they can share a mutual relationship between one another. Lichens are a special type of specie in its own way. They can also help measure toxins in radioactive metals because they bind these substances in there fungal threads where they concentrate with it over long periods of time. Basically lichens could be used for just about anything that people could use them for.
There are many dangers facing the Pine Barrens today. The most dangerous is the effect industrialization has on it. Many industries contribute to the mass pollution of water, land, and air. This greatly impacts the ecosystem of the Pinelands and the animals that live in it. Industrialization also leads to the building of more houses that are detrimental to the Pinelands because the Pinelands are being destroyed little by little every day. This ecosystem is too precious to waste, it needs to be preserved. Pollution has caused over forty species of birds to become endangered. Acid rain also causes the extinction of many species. Acid rain is the term used to describe the chemicals that are deposited through the rain. These chemicals travel through the soil and affect many plants and animals. Acid rain is a world-wide problem that concerns all ecosystems; acid rain needs to controlled by limiting the amount of pollution let out into the air. Another major issue affecting the Pine Barrens is forest fires. There are as many as four hundred forest fires per year.
This paper focuses on the benefits of stem cell research in the medical and nursing field. New technology is always being created to help us understand the way the human body works, as well as ways to help us improve diseased states in the body. Our bodies have the ability to proliferate or regrow cells when damage is done to the cells. Take for example the skin, when an abrasion or puncture to the skin causes loss of our skin cells, the body has its own way of causing those cells to regrow. The liver, bone marrow, heart, brain, and muscle all have cells that are capable of differentiating into cells of that same type. These are called stem cells, and are a new medical tool that is helping regrow vital organs in our body to help us survive. Stem cells can come from adult cells, or the blastocyst of the embryo. The cells that come from these are undifferentiated, and can be specialized into certain cell types, making them available for many damaged tissues in the body. While using stem cells in the body is a main use, they are also being used to help doctors understand how disease processes start. By culturing these cells in the lab and watching them develop into muscles, nerve cells, or other tissues, researchers are able to see how diseases affect these cells and possibly discover ways to correct these diseases. While researchers have come very far in using stem cells, there are still many controversies to overcome when using these cells.

Melanin that present in the skin reacts trough these high wave radiations. Skin cancer is one of the major forms of disease that known to be caused due to these reactions of the pigment present in the skin and infra-red rays. Besides that, when burnt sulphur, dioxide gas will also be produced. This factor forms acid rain. Acid rain could leads to destructions of most of monuments that were made up of brickwork or marbles. Even a lot of crops are affected due to the acidification of loams.

This project was started to find the 80,000 - 100,000 human genes and to determine the sequence of the 3 - billion chemical bases that make up human DNA. The information generated by the human genome project is expected to be the source book for biomedical fields, including those such as developmental biology and neurobiology, where scientists are just beginning to understand the underlying molecular mechanisms. The human genome project is expected to immensely benefit medical science. It will help us to understand and eventually treat many of the more than 4000 genetic diseases that afflict mankind, as well as the many multifunctional diseases in which genetic predisposition plays an important role. New technologies emanating from the genome project will also find application in other fields such as agriculture and the environmental sciences.

Plants can be a benefit for pollution in the air, trees, bushes and other greenery growing in the concrete-and-glass canyons of cities can reduce levels of two of the most worrisome air pollutants by eight times more than previously believed. The more trees we can plant the less pollution we get and more air than just having a huge land and having abandoned buildings taking up space.
