The American colonist of the seventeenth century were primarily which white european men who moved to the America’s to increase family wealth by owning large plantations that were used for farming. These farms were humongous, these lands needed to be worked on a daily to produce profit for the owner. American colonist throughout the years realized that indentured servants at the beginning seemed to be a good way where both the servant and plantation owner could be happy with the outcome. Plantation owner would sign a contract with the servant and the servant would pay off his journey from Africa and jain a reward at the end either with land or supplies. Ater the years many laws were passed among other colonies that really hurt the few freedoms some of these black individuals had. People were taught that white people were the dominate role in society and the rest followed on. Servants at the time were referred as chattel property. They were referred in that way because to begin with these people were taken with no choice in Africa and sent to the America’s with no respect for each other just throne on a ship that sailed across the Atlantic to the America’s were most came malnourished, sick or in most case dead.
