I was born in the Philippines and raised to be a hard working woman. My determination and high dedication to my goal brought me to where I am now. I started my career in health care as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in one of the hospitals here in IL, USA. I did not realized until I became a CNA that helping other people especially the vulnerable one made me happy deep inside and appreciate what I have in life. Therefore, I decided to further my education in nursing in order to help more and be one of an advocate person to the most sick person. I took the Associate degree first, then finished the Bachelor's degree after two years. I had two jobs while I was finishing my bachelor's degree and I was able to managed it well. I have been an RN in Medical-Surgical for about five years now. I'm always expose to adult and geriatric patients and always love to take care of them. I have been taking care of different kind of patients with different medical diagnosis and also different post-operative patients from joint surgeries, abdominal surgeries, back surgeries, etc. I've been able to educate them, assess them well with their conditions, modify patient's treatment plans, coordinate with other healthcare team, and perform other responsibilities of a nurse. One of my goals …show more content…
in my career is to help and be an advocate to the high-risk adult and geriatric population. I have felt that if I will educate myself more and be advanced in nursing I can help them better and treat their diseases better. As always, I wanted to work with adult and geriatric population. My professional goals are to expand my knowledge in order to help them get well soon from their hospitalization, educate them in order to stay away from the hospital, incorporate the most evidenced-based care to my patients and be an advocate to the most vulnerable and high-risk adult and geriatric population. I also have to monitor and ensure their quality of health, demonstrate leadership and be competent as a nurse practitioner and be the most ethical and caring person under my professional standards. If granted and able to be accepted in this program, these goals will be a reality in my profession. If granted and I will become an advanced practice Nurse Practitioner, I would see myself working in the hospital setting or skilled and long-term facility taking care the adult and geriatric population.
Having five years of experienced, I felt that I have the best foundation and with all the education and training that I will gain in this program, I would be qualified to take care the adult and geriatric population. Education would be the better key to my population where I would apply the most evidenced-based practice so that they would be at least able to live their life with meaning and avoid the hospitalization if possible. I will also be able to fulfill my dreams and my professional
goals.
I plan to pursue a career in nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This career take many steps to complete. But it is different routes you can take and different programs you can enroll in for this profession. Family Nurse Practitioners can prescribe medication and diagnose patients and give treatment. They can work either in hospitals and or clinics as a primary healthcare provider. They can also order specific x-rays and test that need to be done for a patient. The nurse practitioners interact with less patients in a clinic than in a hospital. Np’s have privileges to prescribe medications in every state.
When people think of a pediatric nurse practitioner, they normally think of a person who performs examinations, takes blood samples, and measures vital signs of children who are sick. What they don’t see are the countless hours spent getting to know the patient, showing sympathy and understanding, and having to explain the diagnosis and treatment plans to the parents and sometimes to the child. According to my career cruising inventory, any job in the medical field would be right for me. However, after reading the descriptions, I concluded that a pediatric nurse practitioner was the best path. I will be attending nursing school to receive my nurse practitioner license, while specializing in pediatrics. The skills, educational requirements,
When I am older I would love to be a Nurse Practitioner, I enjoy helping people when they are sick and taking care of them. Another reason I want to be a Nurse Practitioner is because my sister is also a Nurse Practitioner.
Nurse practitioners (NPs), one type of advanced practice nurses, are licensed by the states where they practice and certified by private boards. Nurse practitioners hold advanced degrees in clinical practice and function in a wide variety of settings and across the life span. They provide a broad array of healthcare services ranging from managing treatment plans, to prescribing medications, to implementing health promotion services. As of 2014, 205,000 NPs were licensed in the United States with 86% of those prepared to deliver care to patients in primary care settings (NP Facts, 2015). The progression of the Nurse Practitioner movement that occurred in the 1960 and 1970s emerged as a creative and
o Type of healthcare worker: Nurse practitioner o When this type of work entered the market: The medical profession of nurse practitioner was developed in the mid 1960s. The job of nurse practitioners grew from implementing work from primary care physicians into that of traditional nurses. o Reasons for creation and growth: In the late 1950s and early 1960s, increased specialization amongst physicians was taking place, which led to many doctors exploring other avenues of medicine, resulting in a large shortage of physicians practicing primary care. This left many rural and inner city areas with very limited access to medical care.

Licensed practical nurses (LPN 's) fill an important role in modern health care practices. Their primary job duty is to provide routine care, observe patients’ health, assist doctors and registered nurses, and communicate instructions to patients regarding medication, home-based care, and preventative lifestyle changes (Hill). A Licensed Practical Nurse has various of roles that they have to manage on a day to day basis, such as being an advocate for their patients, an educator, being a counselor, a consultant, researcher, collaborator, and even a manager depending on what kind of work exactly that you do and where. It is the nursing process and critical thinking that separate the LPN from the unlicensed assistive personnel. Judgments are based
I realized I can have the most impact towards underprivileged communities as a PA. I would have more intimate control, actively making house visits and educating the community on becoming proactive with health and wellness decisions contributing to cost effective patient care. Branching to underserved neighborhoods and countries partnering with MD’s NP’s on building medical clinics and implementing new medical technology will be some of the innovative techniques I envision as a PA, educating patients that their health is not just in the hands of the medical
Family Nurse Practitioners have the ability to provide primary and/or preventative care across the life span. This gain in autonomy has been the driving force behind my decision to become a nurse practitioner. Specifically, I would like to provide this type of care to immigrants living in the United Sates. I am a second-generation immigrant. My parents are from Nigeria and came to the United States to pursue their education. Although I was born in and have lived in the United States my whole life, Nigerian culture has had a very strong presence in my household. My decision to become a Registered Nurse was highly influenced by my family and Nigerian culture.
I want to be a nurse, specifically a nurse practitioner. I have always been fascinated with the medical field and see a bright future in it for me. I have the opportunity of meeting new people every day with a variety of personalities. There is always something new to discover in this field. A nurse practitioner's job is to be able to diagnose and treat illnesses. They also prescribe medicine and run physical exams. I am highly interested in pursuing the career of a nurse practitioner because the healthcare field is always in need for medical professionals, it pays well, and I am helping people at the same time.
My interest in nursing is fairly new; I had not explored the potential that a nursing career can offer. I became familiar with nursing professionally after becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. While working with patients, side-by-side with nurses I became enamored with the potential of a nursing career. I now have a rewarding career working as a Medical-Surgical nurse on a Medical University Hospital floor that specializes in Transplant, Nephrology and Urology. Nursing encompasses the ideologies that fuel my passion, upon further research, and conversation with coworkers I realize my career goal of Family Nurse Practitioner; affording me the privilege to care for others by reaching out to various

So, I moved here 2 yrs ago from the Philippines where I got my bachelors. I worked as a Volunteer nurse there in the Phils before I came here in the US. I am a goal oriented and compassionate person. When I came here in the US, I started working in an assisted living facility as a resident associate where I helped elderly patients with their ADLs and provided nursing care. I worked there for a year and a half until I got my RN license. Right now I am a Pediatric Home Health nurse, I provide nursing care for a baby with central Line and G-tube. With my 2 years experience in the medical field it helped me build confidence as a health care professional and taught me the importance of pt care. I am very determined and always willing to learn.
