“Parents can only give good advice or put them on the right paths, but the final forming of a person's character lies in their own hands.”(Anne Frank) Could you imagine leaving all of your possessions? Could you imagine being abandoned by your mom or dad? What would you do if you had a tragic event like these in your life? Wouldn’t that be harsh? Both “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Freedom Writers” teach readers that some people are forced to grow up quicker because of their life’s circumstances. There are many examples in both stories that show that the characters are forced to grow up quicker because of their life’s circumstances. One example is in Anne Frank, she is forced to leave her home and go into hiding to avoid getting captured the gestapo, or the Nazi police. She has to leave most of her most treasured belongings behind because the the place where she is hiding, the Secret Annex, is not very large.(Frank) Another example is in Freedom Writers, parents are forcing their children to leave their home because the …show more content…

In the book Anne Frank, she is living a good normal life until the Germans invade their country and start taking Jews away to prison camp. Anne had to grow up quicker because she was in the middle of a literal war/the Holocaust but she is able to spend her hiding with her parents and family.(Frank) On the other hand, in the movie Freedom Writers, in Marcus’ town, Long Beach, people are killing each other because of segregation. Families and friends are being shot because of the color of their skin. Marcus is kicked out of his home, so he does not have the comfort of family on his side, unlike Anne Frank.
