Everyone loves sightseeing and being tourists because observing beautiful places gives people an opportunity to relax and enjoy their moment away from home. Whether they are exploring new, exciting places where you live, or far away from home, sightseeing is one of the greatest pleasures to do in life. I have been to a numerous number of places across the world, and I have to say that Hawaii and San Francisco are both wonderful places to visit. Hawaii and San Francisco, two of the top ten tourist destinations in the United States that attract people from all over the world, resulting in the astonishing landmarks such as Pearl Harbor and Alcatraz Island.
The United States should not annex the Philippine islands, the Philippines, already a country of their own should not be forced to adapt to American culture and civilization. Prior to the annexation of the Philippines, America had major conflict with Spain in order to free Cuba from their brutal tactics for dominance. Tension continued to rise, until President Mckinley decided to take action and go to war against Spanish forces to enable a more stable government as well as provide protection for the citizens of Cuba. After months of fighting, the Spanish admitted defeat and began discussing peace terms of the Treaty of Paris. In this treaty Cuba was guaranteed independence, also the Spanish were forced to give up Guam and Puerto Rico. They Spanish also complied to selling the Philippines to the U.S for 20 million. However, the Filipinos wanted independence, not just a change in who governed them, this desire led many Philippine citizens to break out, beginning the Philippine- American war, which lasted three years, and caused the death of over two hundred thousand American and Filipino citizens.
From the eighteenth century through the early twentieth century, China and Japan had similar views regarding Western penetration, yet both countries responded in different ways. By subverting colonial powers, both countries had to adjust their traditional cultures, economy, and political structures in order keep up with westernization.
Japan in modern times is one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world. This “modern” image that Japan hasn’t been around forever, Japans decision to change from an old traditional country to a westernised one came in 1868, and it took only 50 years for the improvements to be made. In order to successfully modernise Japan had to make several sacrifices, risks and well planned out strategies. These developments can be explained in 5 areas: the Meiji Restoration, Government, Industrialisation, Education and Armed Forces.

Vacations are breathtaking ! There is nothing more that I could use right now more than an exhilarating, yet peaceful getaway. If I had the opportunity to take a vacation anywhere outside of the United States, I would choose to visit Costa Rica. I would choose Costa Rica, because I have always heard tales of how alluring the tropical rainforest is that surrounds the terrain of Costa Rica. Costa Rica is known for its incredible beaches, majestic mountains, and rich culture.
The first inhabitants of the Philippines arrived from the land bridge from Asia over 150,000 years ago. Throughout the years, migrants from Indonesia, Malaysia, and other parts of Asia made their way to the islands of this country. In the fourteenth century, the Arabs arrived and soon began a long tradition of Islam. Many Muslims are still living in the Philippines today.
M.N.Srinivas. He has used the term mainly to refer to the impact of British rule on the Indian society. Srinivas has also tried to use this concept in a general manner to refer to the impact of the West on the non-western societies. Thus he wrote: Westernization refers to ‘the changes in technology, institutions, ideology and values of a non-western society for a long period.’ According to him, Westernization refers to “the changes brought about in Indian society and culture as a result of over 150 years of British rule, and the term subsumes changes occurring at different levels – technology, institutions, ideology and values.” Westernization is to be distinguished from two other processes. They are industrialization and urbanization. The most westernized groups are generally found in the big cities, westernization must not be equated with
It is an exciting thought to have been able to travel to different places throughout your lifetime. One country that has always sounded like an interesting vacation spot to me is Europe. The most commonly visited places in Europe are Paris, London, and Rome. The one place that stands out to me the most is Paris, France. Not only have I heard wonderful reviews about France, but I have also heard real life experiences from a group of students who went to my high school that visited Europe. The three best features of France, from what I can understand, would be the fantastic food, the soothing music and the informationally packed cultural facts.

I grew up in Barrow, Alaska, home of the Inpuiat; however, I’m full Filipino. All throughout school, I would learn about the Inupiat culture and even practice the traditions. This way of life has become apart of who I am, but it isn’t the only thing that makes up my identity. I was born here in Alaska, making me a United States Citizen. However, a couple a years ago, I became a citizen of the Philippines-making me a dual citizen. Although I am a dual citizen and full Filipino, there’s not much that I can say when it comes to my heritage and where I come from. Sure, I eat Filipino food and can understand what my parents are saying when they speak to me in Tagalog, but there’s not much more than that. I don’t know enough of who I
