The career of a pharmacist is a very interested field that caught my attention and might catch the attention of other student. Due to having a high paying salary and great job benefits. Nonetheless, every career has it up’s and downs. For instance, a downside for perusing a pharmacist degree is that is take 6 to 7 seven years, but if the student loves school this would be great choice. Many students would probably be interested but not sure if this is the right carrier for them do to the lack of knowledge.
From the time when King James I created Western society’s “first independent pharmacist guild in England during the early 17th century”, pharmacy has become a important service for the people (Zebroski). Pharmacists were first known as “apothecaries” (Zebroski). Apothecaries did the same thing as today’s pharmacists. For example, they prepared their own medicine, distributed to the people, and gave their customers guidance. Eventually, the customs of apothecaries traveled all the way to the New World were it succeeded for centuries and became very popular for “one hundred fifty years, thanks to Edward Parrish” (Zebroski). The way pharmacists became to be know as pharmacists, started when Parrish proposed to “the members of the national professionals organization” to acknowledge all pharmaceutical practitioners as pharmacist (Zebroski). Pharmacist role had also change thought the years, because of the Federal legislation system.

Pharmacists also complain that they spend too much time running the business and bookkeeping and not enough time counseling patients. One of the controversial issues of a pharmacist is the right that pharmacist have to denied a prescription to a patient base on their beliefs (Petronis). The career pharmacist has its advantages and disadvantages just like other careers.
Pharmacist is a great career field if the student likes to help others and want’s to go to school for a long time. Even do pharmacist has great benefits like job growth; some of the student’s might not be able to handle the stress that comes with the career. Therefore, different things may or may not appeal to different types of personalities and individuals who want to become a pharmacist.
• Organize inventory and alert pharmacists to any shortages of medications or supplies • Accept payment for prescriptions and process insurance claims • Enter customer or patient information, including any prescriptions taken, into a computer system • Answer phone calls from customers • Arrange for customers to speak with pharmacists if customers have questions about medications or health matters Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of pharmacists, who must review prescriptions before they are given to patients. In most states, technicians can compound or mix medications and call physicians for prescription refill authorizations. Technicians also may need to operate automated dispensing equipment when filling prescription orders. Pharmacy technicians working in hospitals and other medical facilities prepare a greater variety of medications, such as intravenous medications.
Pharmacists and technicians provide patients with safe and accurate medication in a timely manner. This is not a task for pharmacists or technicians alone; it is a task that requires both personnel in order to be accomplished.
Pharmacists have a very tedious job because it requires a lot of attention to detail. Pharmacists dispense drugs and provide information to the patients about medication. Not only do they provide information to patients about side effects, but also they inform physicians of the ever-changing selection of drugs and dosage. Weighing, measuring, mixing drugs, finding the identity and purity, and strength of medications is also an important part of the job. Pharmacists must be sure not to dispense drugs that will have a negative reaction to the other medications that the patient may already be taking. Pharmacists work in clean, well-lighted, and well-ventilated areas. They work with dangerous materials and sterile pharmaceutical products, which require them to wear gloves and masks. Many full time, salaried pharmacists work at least about forty hours per week. Community pharmacists research and dispense information and help for diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, and high blood pressure....

I pleased to apply to the PharmD program as the program is one area that corresponds to my career dreams. Being part of this program gives one the opportunity to gain an excellent experience in working and collaborating with various health care providers in the ward. But more importantly, it facilitates a practical environment in dealing more closely with patients. Hence, it helps to provide the ultimate health care services to patients. Also, it permits me to carry on gaining different knowledge, skills, and values in addition to those I have already developed during my undergraduate studies. My interest in being a clinical pharmacist was first aroused during my SPEP rotation in the hospital setting where I was really impressed with the role of clinical pharmacists who provide a consistent process of patient care with healthcare teams to maintain the appropriateness, effectiveness and safety of the medication use. Unlike a pharmacist, a clinical pharmacist has a more diversified responsibilities and closeness to direct patient care. Moreover, provides

Pharmacists have training and expertise in medication therapy as well as patient care capabilities to assess and respond to patients’ health care and drug-related needs. Pharmacists are important members of the health care team. Pharmacists are well accepted by general people as healthcare personnel who provide knowledge about medication to patient (Perepelkin, 2011) but they also acquire knowledge and training to asses and respond to patients’ healthcare and drug related need. So prescribing is a logical extended role of pharmacist. It is assumed that medicine and dentistry professions dominate the prescribing activity but some other health care professionals such as optometrists, podiatrists, midwives, and nurse practitioners have been granted prescribing rights (Sketris, 2009). It is suitable for pharmacist to expand their professional role by adopting prescribing because they have skill and knowledge to initiate, monitor and adjust drug therapy and develop patient-centered care. As a result to an expanded scope of pharmacy practice, pharmacists in several Canadian, American, and British jurisdictions can prescribe medications (Tonna, Stewart & McCaig, 2008).
Since my early schooling days, science and mathematics have always fascinated me given that all components of the world are explained on the basis of these disciplines. In this regard, Pharmacy which is based on Chemistry and Mathematics has interested me a great deal as it has direct impacts on our daily lives. The more I have become familiar with the chemistry and mathematics knowledge involved in pharmacy, the more I have appreciated its significance in improving the lives of people in the community. Out of the many careers that one would opt to pursue, Pharmacy has stood out as the career that will enable me serve the society more directly and have a real impact in the quality of peoples’ lives by touching their health. In addition, I love a career that is challenging and one that I will be involved in even in old age. In this case, Pharmacy offers me this opportunity. My interest in Pharmacy has also developed from my personal health experiences and becoming aware of its expansiveness. Every time I have had to take medicine to cure an illness, I have become more interested to know how drugs are made and how the drug components work in the human body to alleviate pain and restore health. I desire to pursue a career in Pharmacy so as to gain practical experience in these aspects of research.
When you ask people what you think when word “pharmacist” come to your mind? They often say pharmacist have to deal with variety of legal drugs. From my personal opinion, when I hear the word “Pharmacist”, I think of helping others. This inspiration came from my Health Science class I took in twelve grade. Until senior year of my high school, I did not know what I wanted to be. But it all changed, after my first shadowing experience at pharmacist station. There I learn about what exactly the pharmacist career is about, what are some of the equipments used in the field and how I can contribute the knowledge I receive here to help others.
First, here is some important background information about Pharmacists. A Pharmacist is someone who is trained and licensed to distribute medicinal drugs and to advise on their use. As I have grown up and experienced college, I have encountered numerous people and fellow students aspired to become engineers and doctors, all eager to become esteemed members of the community because of the status such careers bring. I, however, have always been drawn to the career path of pharmacy and becoming a contributing member of my community in that particular outlet. A pharmacy is in many ways a pillar of a community’s overall health and wellbeing as well as a valuable resource for medical and insurance related information. As a young person, I had always wondered what went on behind the high desks and cabinets in a pharmacy. I was always drawn and curious about the science and technology that was just behind those barriers that would ultimately bring good health to many patients every day. This is what peaked my interested in striving to
Pharmacist and Pharmacy technician should modify their counselling questions according to the feedback given by the customer. They should avoid medical terms and use easy language.
Pharmacists have very important roles in healthcare from all angles. Physicians and licensed practitioners that write a written prescription, the pharmacist reviews patient history, health conditions, and interactions with the new medication prescribed. As a pharmacy technician (for six years) I had a somewhat of an overview on what they accomplished in a shift but did not know everything on what I know now from this research. Pharmacy students that are in the process to obtain their doctor of pharmacy (D.Pharm.) go through a series of training, education and internship to become a well-rounded pharmacist.
Becoming a pharmacist would allow me to have stability and flexibility in the future with my life, which will be important when I am older. My goal to become a pharmacist will be much tougher than other careers, but its rewards are much bigger. Since I have always shown interest in helping people, this career will be perfect because I can advise patients on medications to better their health. To become a pharmacist, I first need to pass the first two years of my pre-pharmacy work here at STLCOP. This will allow me to advance to the professional classes. Once I am able to pass my 6-year classes, I must take a license exam to obtain my pharmacy license (about.com). Pharmacists have very good job outlooks because they make a high salary with many benefits (about.com). I must work very hard in school to become this because it will not be easy. I need to become a pharmacist because I am not interested in anything else besides health careers. I want to help people with their health, and I have wanted to do this since I was a child. I want to work in a clinical setting becau...
Firstly, the main role of a pharmacist is to dispense medicines to their patients according to the prescription given. Before this, they have to ensure that they delivering the right drug, the strength and dosage of the medicine are appropriate, as well as ensuring the medication is safety and can work effectively in the human body.
