The more thought that is put into the true nature of human beings, the clearer the realization seems to be that as a species, humans are inclined to challenge limits that are thought to be understood and transcend set boundaries. This truth of human nature is quite effectively revealed in both The Epic of Gilgamesh and the novel Oryx and Crake. The Epic of Gilgamesh reveals more about the human disposition to push mortal boundaries. It explores the desire to challenge religious boundaries, which hold extreme repercussions, as well as fears that were faced when dealing with the truth of human mortality. Oryx and Crake, on the other hand, deals more with the human desire to attain eternal youth, and the moral boundaries that are pushed and most certainly crossed in those endeavours. As each text presents evidence to prove the presence of such desires in human nature, both also seem to argue that boundaries are set for reasons, and that nothing fruitful can come from the endeavour of crossing them.
The story begins with Eliduc going into exile due to the fact that he was unfairly slandered and lost the influence of the King of Brittany. Although he was greatly adored by the king, this is the event that sent him into exile. Eliduc was known as one

A writers mind is very intellectual, they tend to have an unparalleled vision within their sense of understanding. The differences of this vision, compared to the levels of understanding, shows itself transversely throughout the novel Grendel and the epic poem Beowulf. Both forms of literature are distinct in the plot and setting, but Gardner’s perceptiveness of Beowulf in his novel differs from the view of the unknown author’s relay of Beowulf in the poem. In the poem, Beowulf is portrayed as an epic hero, brave honorable, and dignified, with vast generosity and munificent loyalty. While in the novel, he is portrayed as an unsettling stranger that connives his way into everyone’s life by his dangerous nature and entrancing stories.
In this book, the protagonist is a boy named Eragon. In the beginning, he leads a simple life on a farm in a country named Alagaësia, living with his cousin, Roran, and his Uncle Garrow, who had raised him since he was a child.
The epic yarn Gilgamesh leaves me somewhat discouraged when I finished the book. This pessimistic ending is not the happy ending I was expecting to see considering the tragedies throughout of the rest of the story. The entire last part of the book, starting with Enkidu’s death, is nothing but more sorrow for Gilgamesh. The book seems to give Gilgamesh hope and then beat him down with more tragedy. It is almost as if the more he tries, the worse it gets for him.
In Sophocles’ Antigone, Antigone saw her action of burying her brother as a just one. It may not have been just in the eyes of Creon and the people of Thebes, but she was not concerned with the laws that mortals had made. Antigone saw the divine laws of the gods to be much more important than those of mortals. She felt that if she died while upholding the laws of the gods, that her afterlife would be better than if she had not. Our lives on this earth are so short, that to see a good afterlife over the horizon will make people go against the laws of humans.
Every hero has a journey whether it may deal with slaying a dragon or obtaining immortality like our hero Gilgamesh. The story starts out in the ordinary world with Gilgamesh and Enkidu causing havoc on the city that Gilgamesh rules as king. As Enkidu is on his deathbed, he has a dream about old kings being in hell because of the selfish lifestyle they lived, which gets Gilgamesh determined to find immortality. On his journey, he prays to the gods and as he awakens lions attack him, but he is able to defeat them with his bare hands thanks to his prayers being accepted by the gods. Gilgamesh is stopped at the gates of Mashu and a scorpion guard that warns him about the difficult journey he will face if he goes through the gate, but that does
In fairy tales, one of the basic characteristics of a story line is its general involvement with some type of initial difficulty, usually made known to the reader in the introduction. As a result, the main character or characters of the story are compelled to seek a final resolution to the situation (Bruti). Perrault follows this formula, and begins his tale by presenting the dilemma of a young boy who must make his way in the world following the death of his father, his only inheritance being that of a cat. Having outlined the challenge facing the main character, the story proceeds to the next part of the story, the opening.

They went home and Mattimeo had finally after experiencing these events become a man. He took over his fathers place as the warrior of Redwall. Impression: I really liked this book because of all its suspense. The author kept my attention constantly. For example, in the book the author would cut off right at a very suspenseful part and switch to another part. From a scale of one to ten I would give this book a ten. I recommend it to whoever likes fast moving stories and
