One of the Quaker values that has been a part of my life is equality because i believe that no one should be judged by their gender nor race. I have always believed in equality since 6th grade, ever since Freddie grey died because of the color of his skin. Equality has been an important value to me because i have noticed how much certain people are being wronged based on their religion, nationality, race, and gender. Equality has been a part of my life because I've noticed how some people treat others different from them and I want to stop it so there is equality everywhere.Equality has played another role in my life since I learned about segregation, civil rights movement, and racism during the 60s.
I learned that some African-Americans
fought for integration and to get treated the same way white people were treated. It has also played a part in my life when African- Americans were getting killed by cops and a racist like Mike Brown,Trayvon Martin, and Sandra Bland. Equality is important to me because I believe that no one is entitled to special privileges based on race or class, everyone should have a voice in government, everyone should be allowed to make economic progress, and everyone should be able to receive education.
Equality eventually escapes from the place that never felt like home, and runs off with his love, Liberty 5-300, who he calls the Golden One. After learning about the men from the Unmentionable Times, Equality would agree with Ayn Rand’s words in her short essay, “How Does One Lead a Rational Life in an Irrational Society?”, where she not only talks about the importance of having moral judgment, but also about being brainwashed by your leaders and government. Equality can relate because, for his whole life, he was in a society where their version of wrong and right were opposites to what they should have been. Equality in American Democracy American democracy changed drastically after the Civil War. One of the major changes in American democracy was equality. Today, American citizens are more equal than the Americans before the Civil War. Major movements, events, and government decisions changed the way people view equality today. Some of these changes improved the equality between American citizens, but others only increased the inequality.
Equality fights in what he believes in just like Prometheus. He wants Liberty to conceive his child and help create a new society for themselves and others. Equality has many similarities to Prometheus. In Greek Mythology, Prometheus brought fire to mankind. Likewise, Equality had brought fire to his town through a light bulb. It was made to show his light and power. (Ayn Rand Anthem Pg 52) “We Equality 7-2521, have discovered it alone, and we are alone to know it.”
Democracy stresses the equality of all individuals and insists that all men are created equal. Democracy does not persist on an equality of condition for all people or argue that all persons have a right to an equal share of worldly goods. Rather, its concept of equality insists that all are entitled to equality of opportunity and equality before the law. The democratic concept of equality holds that no person should be held back for any such arbitrary reasons as those based on race, color, religion, or gender. This concept of equality holds that each person must be free to develop himself or herself as fully as he or she can or cares to and that each person should be treated as the equal of all other persons by the law. We have come a great distance toward reaching the goal of equality for all in this country, but however close we are we are still at a considerable distance from a genuine universally recognized and respected equality for all. I will go into more details giving more information and making it clear to understand equality and civil rights for all and it affects everyone.
Few people are the same as they are on the street in their homes. Few people can treat others equally; no matter what colour their skin is. Atticus Finch is one of those precious few. Racism in the town of Maycomb is nothing but disguised by the polite smiles and ladies missionary meetings; although it is the strongest belief that each person of the town holds apart from some such as Atticus. Racism is an issue of great importance, yet to the eye of a visitor waltzing through, it's just a slight whisk of air.
America has always been a country with different cultures, races, and people. Only, not everyone has been accepting of different kinds of people. A persons thoughts on another person can differ depending on a person's race, gender, or age. In Harper Lee’s, To Kill a Mockingbird, racial equality is nonexistent. The African Americans were treated like they weren’t people, and were totally isolated from the Maycomb, Alabama society. America will never achieve true racial and social equality because people are ignorant, have a history of being prejudiced, and are unjust.
During the early eighteenth century, children were given more freedom with marriage. In the concept of land, most second generation sons did not live on the same land or in the same township as their fathers when married, unlike in the seventeenth century. The majority of fathers bought the land for their sons in differing locations instead of handing down his own land. After marriage, instead of continuing to hold power over their sons, fathers would give away their land to them. After giving up all of their land after marriage, the fathers then had less power over their sons. The views of Hitler and his Nazis in comparison to those of the Quakers couldn’t be more different. The Nazis thrive on fear and violence to fuel their campaign, while the Quakers are pacifists and would do anything to keep the peace. The book, The children of Willesden lane , demonstrates a few ways that Quakers rebelled against Hitler. The Quakers actions in this book also show how important Quakers really were during WW2. During the Holocaust Quakers refused to fall under Hitler’s rule by going against him and helping safe harbor Jewish people.

One of America’s earliest actions when declaring themselves to be “free and independent”, was writing the Declaration of Independence. Within these documents were the five ideals, which include equality, liberty, opportunity, rights, and democracy all which are fundamental and vital to the progress of this country. However, multiple occasions are seen throughout history in which the government has not complied with these ideals. All throughout America’s history, there has been a major amount of inequality. Of course humans will always search for different solutions to create fairness, but factors such as human greed, ignorance of mass populations, and even biological aspects stagnates the process of equality.
