Recommended: The american dream for immigrants

In today’s democracy many people immigrate to the United States in search of equality, freedom, and the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. I often find it difficult, believing that everyone has the equal opportunity to achieve the American Dream. What can we say is the true identity or definition of the “American Dream” today? Merriam Webster’s own definition of the American Dream reads, “an American social ideal that stresses egalitarianism and especially material prosperity; also: prosperity or life that is the realization of this ideal.” Is prosperity around today, waiting to be accomplished by demonstrations of hard work, or is it dead? The idea of equal chances and rights for prosperity is represented in through the media and education. The definition or meaning for this freedom is freedom of choice. All individuals are given the opportunity to make his/her own decision in order to achieve goals for successful purposes and get over the difficult outcomes while pursuing the American Dream. An example, would be an individual who chooses a career for themselves and decides which classes he needs to take to receive credit for future career advances. Although, the constitution allows making significant choices for the outcomes of ones future, there is a clear line between legal and illegal actions that can be appropriate. The laws of the United States as other countries prohibit inappropriate words in public, killing, fraud, and etc. A famous attorney once said that “there are many laws out there which may seem senseless, but we all need to obey them anyways” (Triola 14).
