The story Ender’s Game is about a boy named Ender who was chosen to leave earth to go to battle school to pass many test, and win many games commanding a team to become the commander of the last bugger war. Ender spends his whole life playing games and passing tests when he might not even know it. The main theme in Ender’s Game is about how Ender has a hard time realizing games from reality. In the book Ender’s Game, Ender was the one in class that was the best and smartest, when Ender turned six he was asked to join battle school but he knew that he had no choice. Ender was treated like the best by Graff to make the rest of his launch group not like him and to make it even harder on Ender throughout battle school and quickly moved Ender into …show more content…
an army before anyone else. After being in a army Ender was promoted to commanding his own army and was very successful. After visiting Earth, after battle school Ender and Graff left for Eros to train for command, Ender met Mazer Rackham and Mazer trained and taught him a lot so he could command an army of star ships to defeat the Buggers, while Ender was training he was actually defeating the Buggers. After Ender defeated the Buggers he left with the first group to colonize the Buggers planet, when he arrived he found the last Queen Bugger egg, and set off to find them a new planet. The theme for Ender’s Game is about Ender’s trouble telling reality and life from games, this is the thesis because the lesson you can learn from this is paying more attention to real life and not getting too caught up into a game.
An example of this was when Ender was on Eros and playing the game, but in reality he was commanding the fleet and destroying the Buggers existence. Another example is when Ender is exploring the Buggers world and starts getting a funny feeling, “... Ender suddenly began to feel an uneasy sense that he had been in this place before.” (page 316) He finds himself discovering a place just like the Giant's drink which was the game he played at battle school and now he was seeing it in real life. “He had played here too many times as a child not not know this place. But it was not possible. The computer in the Battle School could not possibly have seen this place.” (Page 317) the reason this is important to us is the lesson you learn from reading and understanding the book. The lesson you can take from Ender’s Game is for you to not get so addicted to one thing that make it your whole life when there are so many other things you can do. If you started playing video games all day and that's all you did you would start having dreams about it and that where you mind would always be when you can do multiple things at once and never lose track of what you are capital of. In the beginning of the book Ender was a lot sharper thinking wise and was always the smartest and towards the end he wouldn't think of the things he would have thought of
before. I liked this book because it always kept me interested and wondering what was going to happen next. It made me try to infer what was going to happen next, and sometimes I was right and sometimes wrong. If I had to rate this book 1-10 I would give this book a ten out of ten. Ender is a kid who was vary smart and was recognized to go through training and hopefully one day become the commander of the fleet, Ender ended up becoming the commander and helped to beat all Buggers while not even knowing then set off to find a new planet for the last Queen Bugger to repopulate there spices. If you like science fiction books then I recommend Ender’s Game to you. Remember to not get too caught up into one thing that you lose sight of all the rest.
Introduction: Ender is one of the main characters in this book, Ender is intelligent on and off the battlefield he is the youngest in the salamander army but he is more skillful than anyone else in the army. The book Ender’s game is written by Dr son Scott Card, This book was the Hugo and Nebula winner.
The Enders Game written by Orson Scott Card provides understanding of the characters and their relationships with others through indirect characterization and diction. Orson Scott Card uses literacy devices and specific word choice to let the reader draw conclusions about the characters and the relationships between Peter and Ender, the symbolism of the bugger mask/bugger-astronaut game, and the foreshadowing of Peter and Valentines death. The author reveals the relationship between Peter and Ender through Peter’s perception of Ender and the astronaut-bugger game. “Ender did not see Peter as […]
In Orson Scott Card’s novel, Enders Game, at the age of six, Ender is chosen by Colonel Graff and the International Fleet to help save mankind from the buggers. However, through his journey, he experiences manipulation and deception from significant figures that surround his life. This deceit from Colonel Graff, Valentine, and Mazor Rackham is focused on defeating the buggers in the Third Invasion.
Ender is selected to go to Battle School in space because of the actions he has displayed against a bully after a device known as a monitor, which allows the leaders of the I.F. to watch and hear everything Ender perceives. Although Ender’s conception was predetermined (in this time period, families are only allowed to have two children unless stated by the government which is why Ender is often called a “Third”), he had to display the correct characteristics to be selected. Ender’s siblings, Peter and Valentine also wore the monitor, but neither wore it as long nor was selected because Peter was too cruel and Valentine was too mild. Once Ender arrives, he makes a couple new friends from the other selected children, including a boy named Alai. When Ender is alone, he plays a mind game and progresses farther than anyone has before so out of the blue, Ender becomes promoted to a group called Salamander Army, where he befriends the only girl, Petra Arkanian, at Battle School. As Ender continues to display his brilliance, he is continuously being promot...
They wanted Ender to see that it was a game because this would insure that the humans would be victorious over the buggers. Because of this, Ender has suffered a great ordeal of losses in everything such as life, love, family, and friendship. At this point of my explanation, we can clearly see that Ender does suffice enough to be a Christ Figure because he began his journey with a full heart and now he is ending his journey with nothing left but a new world to live in with Valentine, while trying to find a safe place for the Queen Bugger to live. This is his last and most important mission of all. It looks like as if Ender is beginning a whole new journey. Truth be told, Ender is done, but he has that final step to go before he can call out to home and finally live the rest of days free of
This book is anti-war since it shows how war could advance someone’s life into a huge disaster, how anyone can break down from the stress that others impose on them, just to be able to produce someone who can save humanity, and how someone’s life was controlled by someone else since they were born and can not be able to change and let themselves hold on to their own life, fate, and future. War destroys everything but Ender’s Game shows how war had affected and destroyed Ender’s whole entire
In Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card, we see the life, struggles, and choices of Ender Wiggin. After reading the book, we as the readers can interpret what we believe the book was meant to accomplish in terms of the moral questions it raises. Some believe that Card wrote the book as a self-serving justification of Enders actions. However, I believe that the story is not a justification of Enders actions, but instead an illustration of the abuse and mistreatment of a young child.
In the beginning of the book, Ender is ashamed when his decisions harm others. After receiving ‘special treatment’ on his way to Battle School, Ender is being harassed
“Responsibilities fall heaviest on those willing to take the load”. Responsibility as a main part in Ender's life in the battle school. Through his responsibilities he had to act and think like an adult. As the reader reads the book “Ender's Game”, the author Orson Scott Card talks about Ender's responsibility as an “adult”, yet still a child. Orson Scott Card still makes us question ourselves if Ender is really responsible as an adult.
Throughout the book, Enders Game it is arduous to establish what it authentically denotes to have human rights. The regime relies on children to preserve the world from the buggers. They are treated like they are adults and are purloined of their youth. Ender realizes that the adults are manipulating the children and his cognizance of what is right and what is not is what preserves the world from the manipulation from the adults. Because of Ender kenning what is right and was is not and withal is authentic this is what he does that culminates up preserving the Earth from extirpation. In Orson Scott Card’s novel, the Ender’s Game shows how in authentic life that children can be utilized in Warfare, which they are called “child soldiers”, and
He uses a combination of Peter’s ruthlessness with Valentine’s compassion. “In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. I think it’s impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves” (Card 238). Ender reveals this to Valentine because it is the main reason why he despises himself. Ender first uses his method against Stilson after getting his chip removed. He realizes that with the way Stilson is, the only way to stop him is to cause enough pain to deter retaliation. Learning from his enemies does not only occur on Earth. While being rejected in Salamander Army, Ender studies the good and bad techniques in the battle room. Given that, Ender ultimately beats Bonso once he is in command of his own army. He continues to do this with every person and battle he comes into contact with, making him the best commander at
After much internal debate Ender decides to go to battle school and leave home. He knows he won’t see his family until he is at least 12 but most likely he will have to wait until he is 16. When Ender is inside the ship on the way to battle school, the adults start their manipulation game. Graff calls out Ender as the only one who will save mankind, making the other kids hate Ender and become envious. Ender already lost the chance at having a normal childhood when he was born a third, but he was also considered to be the chosen one to save mankind from the very beginning. The manipulation of Ender is shown through the book and the children at the school either take part in his abuse or ignore the adults who cause it. Through this abusive training tactic Ender becomes the skilled fighter and leader the government wants. Ender gets moved through the program fast. He gets to the command school at age 9, a school no one can go to until they are sixteen. The adults tell him he will be doing simulations to practice the attacks on the buggers, but after the last simulation he finds out he killed the entire bugger species. The novel shows Ender to be morally innocent throughout his story, but he takes on the guilt of xenocide of the buggers. He is shocked at what he did, even when he didn’t know what he’s doing. Ender loses his innocence at this moment. He knew he was being manipulated by the adults throughout his career at the battle schools, but he had no idea he was being manipulated into exterminating a whole race. When he realizes what he did he goes into another depression slump and does not come out of his room for days. He doesn’t understand why he was manipulated into what he
Barbara Sher is quoted saying, “Isolation is a dream killer” which is a perfect summation of Ender’s lonely journey through an isolated childhood. Ender’s Game is a science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card about a young boy named Ender Wiggin who is taken from his family at the age of six for rigorous training that ultimately leads the entire human space fleet against the alien race, the Buggers, that threatens to destroy all of mankind. Card makes it clear from the very beginning Ender is alone in all this. It is precisely this that is needed for the transformation Ender must undergo to carry the weight of an entire race on his shoulders. Isolation becomes the primary element that contributes to Ender’s success as a leader because it instills self-reliance, strength, and above all else, empathy. He realized that no one is there to help him, no one is coming to his rescue, and only he can be the one to save them all.
During the book ender plays many battle games, intelligence games, and mind games. It basically turns enders life into a game, or saying life is “Ender's game”. Next, there is the part where Ender destroys the Bugger (alien) army he believes it is just a game. The leaders of the schools tell Ender that it is just a simulation, just a game, but really it ends up he is leading the real armies to beat the buggers. Once again there is a game, Ender's game. Throughout the book it is constantly telling you low key that life is Ender’s game, that he can do whatever. Lastly, one of the mind games ender plays ends up being real in real life. In this game ender kills a giant, and explore this magical land. In this land Ender kills a giant and explores the playground area next to a forest where there is this castle. Representing Ender's game, The buggers somehow built this magical land on one of their planets with the giant and castle and
Ender's Game is the story of Ender Wiggin, a child genius chosen to save the world. Ender is intelligent, see the bigger picture, and fearless. In the novel Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, Ender is best described as someone that is omniscient . Ender shows his intelligence through his training, skills, and fast smart thinking in stressful situations throughout the novel. “I don't care if I pass your test, I don't care if I follow your rules. If you can cheat, so can I. I won't let you beat me unfairly - I'll beat you unfairly first. (Card 24)” Ender Wiggin is the indisputable hero of the story. He is the perfect man (boy) to lead the entire fleet. Ender’s very independent, strong, willed, mentally tough, creative, and mature. While Ender
