The Empire State Building has a unique style that is modern, yet contemporary. It has undergone recent renovations and has had many in the past years. It was designed in the Art Deco period and its total height is 1,454 feet tall. Some of the architectural elements used are obvious, and some are not as obvious. Some elements are a façade, an enclosed porch, and small, boxy, shapes connected

Who can forget Hong Kong in “An Affair to Remember”? It is one of the tallest buildings in America. The building was also finished earlier than expected.
Some significant world events that transpired while the Empire State Building was being constructed were the Great Depression and when the song “The Star-Spangled Banner” was made the national anthem. These world events and other world events at the time didn’t really affect the progress and constuction of the building. In fact, it was, as I said, finished earlier than expected.
The purpose of building the Empire State Building was the “Skyscraper race”. The Eiffel Tower was built in 1889 in Paris. The building taunted and teased architects in America to do better, as if it were saying, “Look at me I’m so big and tall! I’m unlike any other building!”. Then, many people started to dream bigger and bigger and bigger!
John Jakob Raskob, a former vice president of General Motors, joined the race. He was trying to beat Walter Chrysler, founder of Chrysler Corporation. He hired Lamb, Shreve, and Hamon to be his architects. It is supposedly said that Raskob took a pencil, handed it to Lamb and said, “Bill, how high can you make it so that it won't fall
Pennsylvania has a wide variety of beautiful historical buildings that reflect many different styles of architecture. They include historical homes, unique covered bridges, government buildings, and breathtaking churches. Some of Pennsylvania’s most recognized examples of great architecture are Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Fallingwater” and The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts located in Philadelphia. However, the one building that I think of when it comes to great architecture is The Pennsylvania State Capitol. The Pennsylvania State Capitol building, located in Harrisburg, is a great example that represents a variety of architectural elements and a rich history.

Construction was resumed in 1803, with Latrobe as architect. Latrobe designed the central portion of the first building, and modified Thornton’s design so that committee rooms and offices would fit in the south wing. He also designed octastyle porticos for the west and east front of the building, and a colonnade behind the east portico that spanned the entire center section. In order to keep the view of his low dome uninterrupted, Latrobe designed the pediment of the central section to be shallow enough to not reach over the top of the entablature. Another thing that Latrobe designed were the columns in Corinthian style at the east front. Their capitals depicted corn cobs and tobacco leaves, as symbols of the country’s prosperity and the nation’s wealth,
Our nation's revolution was a great achievement in U.S History. With the dawn of a new nation, there would have to be a central location to make the new decisions of our country. Our capitol has stood as the heart of our country since the late 1700s. The United States capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. For almost two centuries it has housed the meeting chambers of the senate and the House of Representatives. Begun in 1793, the capitol building has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored. Today our capitol stands as a monument to the American people and their government. (AOC.gov)
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald uses lots of literary devices to showcase the love that Gatsby has for Daisy, but also how that love could be turned against him. Throughout the book, Gatsby fights for the love of Daisy and to win her back. Everything Gatsby did was to get Daisy's attention and to get her to love him again, but it doesn't end up how Gatsby expected. This shows how love can serve as a driving force for people, but also lead to tragedy. First Fitzgerald uses obligation to convey the love Gatsby had for Daisy.
Built in 1889 to commemorate the hundred year anniversary of the French Revolution, the Eiffel Tower has been a topic of discussion for numerous years. Designed by Gustave Eiffel and Morris Koechlin, the Tower was built originally as a temporary structure. The pieces of this eye-catching building were to be disassembled and melted down after twenty years. This did not happen, however. There is a Romanesque style in the arched windows and the brick walls. The Beaux-Arts tradition is a T-shaped floor plan. The building measures 75 feet in diameter with three wings. The Rotunda’s walls are made of Italian marble and the floors have mosaic tile. The statue in the center of the floor is called “Three Muses.”
I think there was a big difference between the money they spent on it one was way more than the other. “It was around 150 billion dollars for the most expensive house” (The Most Expensive House in the Universe par-1) 150 billion dollars is a lot of money for the most expensive house. “The building of the skyscraper represents an investments of spending 50,000,000 on the Empire State Building” ( When the Empire State Building was New). I thought it was more expensive for the Empire State Building instead of the the house.
Another one of Pei’s buildings that has quite strong similarities with the Louvre, despite it being a chapel, is the Luce Memorial Chapel. It conforms to Pei’s usual love of geometric and triangular forms, however it has a much more romantic and elegant appearance, owing to the use of bowed sides, rather than Pei’s usual use of sharp angled edges. Pei was careful to tailor his design to the specific environmental context of Taiwan, making use of reinforced concrete walls which help provide earthquake stability, and durability, in the humid and typhoon-prone environment. The Eiffel Tower, also known as La Tour Eiffel in French, is a world famous structure located in Paris, France. The construction of the Eiffel Tower began in July 1887 and was completed in March 1889. The Eiffel Tower was chosen in a contest, out of hundreds of artist proposals, to being a center piece at the Exposition Universelle, World’s Fair, hosted by Paris in 1889. The purpose of the contest was to select a building which would commemorate the one-hundredth anniversary of the French Revolution in 1789, demonstrate France’s industrial expertise to the world, and serve as the center piece of the World’s Fair. The Eiffel Tower is currently located on Champ-de-Mars, the center of Paris. Originally, the tower was built as temporary monument and was planned to be demolished after twenty years of its construction. Before its completion, the tower received several oppositions to ending its construction. A group of about three hundred artists, sculptors, writers and architects sent a petition to the commissioner of the Paris Exposition, pleading to end the construction of the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower was accused of taking away the beauty and light of the capital. However, the petition was ignored and the construction continued. The decision to demolish the tower was also eliminated due to the monument’s abilities and functions, which were discovered after its completion. The Eiffel Tower contains a meteorology laboratory for scientists’ to use for studying and inventing purposes on gravity and electricity. The tower also serves a significant role due to its antenna, which was added in 1930. The French military used the Eiffel Tower’s antenna as a wireless telegraph transmitter to communicate with ships in the Atlantic Ocean and...

It was built for the 1889 International Exposition and was created to mark the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution While the Eiffel Tower has welcomed 32,250,297 people to L'exposition de Paris, Parisians did not welcome the tower at first. Many famous artists and writers protested against the construction of the tower claiming that it will change the image of Paris and will put other monuments in shade. Also, many felt that it was dangerous because of its height it might fall, ugly, and did not reflect their city's culture. In ...
