Derek Glissman-Mayner Quarter 2 Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus Tom Angleberger The book’s genre is science fiction and fantasy because there are some alien puppets and some stuff can never happen in real life, like puppets having a conscious and being able to speak on their own. The title of the book is called “Emperor Pickletine Rides the Bus” because the author is a Star Wars fan and it also has some elements of Star Wars in it like the force. It’s about these Jr. High School kids who went on a field trip but they couldn’t bring their Origamis with them but they ended up using something different instead of Origamis but what could it be? except the Principle, Ms. Rabbski, made a no Origami rule they couldn’t bring their Origamis to help them. They all got a bus buddy on one bus. Keven sat with Dwight, who made Origami Yoda. Lance sat with his girlfriend Amy. Quavondo sat with Mike, and Tommy got Harvey, who made Darth Paper. On the other bus Sara sat with Rhondella. Jen sat with Piper, while Cassie sat with Sharon. The bus without Ms. Rabbski, everyone smelled something awful. Harvey laughed evil like and had a shriveled up pickle inside of a black piece of paper on his finger. Everyone wondered what it was. Harvey said “This is Emperor Pickletine,” everyone was amazed by it. Emperor Pickletine was happy that they listened to Rabbski and left their Luke’s, Obi-Wan’s and Yoda’s at home, making him the most powerful thing on the bus. They asked Dwight if he brought Origami Yoda. He said “no.” He said the Origami Yoda warned him this would happen and to bring lime fruit-roll ups. Harvey folded one into Yoda and put it on his finger saying “Fruitigami Yoda I am”. When a teacher came by Dwight started eating Fruitigami Yoda. They all were wondered why Dwight ate Fruitigami Yoda then made another one. Then everyone started to make Star Wars characters from their snacks …show more content…
and got extremely loud.
When they were told to quiet down some people ate some of their snacks. When Mike went to the restroom on the bus, everyone looked at him when he came out. He decided to play a game called “Made you look” and everyone started playing. No one got Harvey at all but then the other bus was driving right next to them. On the other bus Sara was losing her mind because Rhondella kept checking her phone to see when her boyfriend was going to text back. When they saw the other bus Sara waved at Tommy and mouthed “I wish I was with you” and she looked around. She saw Dwight with Origami Yoda ,then saw him eat it which gave her an idea. She grabbed a cookie that could snap into fourths and had made the fortune cookie. Then she realized she didn’t have Han Solo to translate in her head so she asked people for a snack, lucky for her Cassie had Rolo’s. Sara then made Han Rolo and they told her to get rid of Rhondella’s phone. So she asked Jen to wait ten minutes and call her so Rabbski would come and take Rhondella’s phone. Rhondella asked Sara to take a picture of her when Sara did it she turned up the ringer. Ten minutes later Jen called Rhondella and the ringtone was
extremely loud. Rabbski was already on top of Rhondella before she could deny the call. On the bus Tommy was on, they all continued playing “Made you look.” Everyone, except Harvey, saw a statue. Harvey thought it was a part of the game, disagreeing with everyone. Then they all started arguing with him about it. The teacher then made them quiet down and they cancelled the game after that. When they turned from Interstate 81 to Interstate 66, to get into Washington D.C., the bus driver said “Execute order 66”. When they got off the bus at the museum and waited for the other bus so they could go inside and begin the field trip they’ve been waiting for. The setting of the story is on two buses. One is a normal bus and the other bus is bus that has a restroom on it. The problem with it is that there is no way to get rid of the smell from out of it and it’s so small. The main characters are Tommy, Keven, Dwight, Fruitagami Yoda, Harvey, Emperor Pickletine, Lance, Amy, Sara, Quavondo, Mike, Jen, and Rhondella. All the people, except for Rhondella, are all respective Origami folders. My favorite character is Harvey because he can fold many awesome sith characters like Darth Vader and more. I think you should read this book because it gives you the sense of adventure and excitement. The author’s writing skills keep you wondering what will happen next in the story. The characters are all interesting because you wonder why they do what they do in the story. If you like the book then read some of the other ones because they are great as well. They also give you some backstory about all of the characters.
This book starts from a basic backstory, and then piecemeal goes and becomes a very interesting story that you can’t put down. The first part of the book talks about the main character, Kyle Keely. In his school, there was a competition on who would write a better essay about public libraries. Kyle didn’t know about this until the last minute. He quickly wrote his essay on the way to school and turned it in. Kyle was one of the twelve people who won! Since he won, he, along with eleven other children, would get to see the new public library that was made by Mr. Lemoncello and his assistant Dr. Zinchenko. When the winners arrived at the library, they were immediately greeted by Dr. Zinchenko. They were then greeted with their first challenge. After the first challenge was over, they had a new task at
As the book went on, the outbreak of a war between France and Vietnam began.... ... middle of paper ... ... This would be an excellent book for those who have an interest in politics.
Barney, the main character in the story, is a teenage boy who has to stay another boring summer at his parents vacation rental. Barney knows that the man who stayed there previously, is a Captain that had a insane brother, that just so happened to stay in Barney’s room, locked up, for 20 years in that room for being insane. He finds out that their is a group of teenagers his age, named, Zana, Manny, and Joe, that live at the cottage next door. When Barney meets them, he learns that their favorite activity is to play a board game called Interstellar Pig, weird right? Same name as the title of the book. Zena, gives him a brief description on the rules. Rules: Each player picks their character from a stack of cards. The characters are aliens with different
In When the Emperor Was Divine by Julie Otsuka, each of the characters – the mother, the daughter, the son, and the father - change because of their time spent in the Japanese-American internment camps. These characters change in not only physical ways, but they also undergo psychic and emotional changes as a result of staying in the camps. These changes weaken their resolve for living and cause the quality of their lives to decline; some of these changes will affect their lives forever. Their reclassification into the internment camps stays with the family long after they are released from the camps.

The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier was a book that we read in class, it was about good and evil. It is about how the to forces battle for superiority over one another. The book tells how one of the sides over powers the other to claim its spot on top. The people are like pawns to two of the characters, Archie and Brother Leon because they use the people to get what they want from them, and will stop at nothing to get it. Both of characters will stop at nothing to have what they want, which is to have the power over the school.
An Exploration of the Ways Shakespeare Presents the Character Claudius From Claudius’s first speech the audience gains the impression the character is political and educated. Shakespeare uses metaphorical language to emphasis this. Claudius’s first speech in the script is full of metaphorical language, and it shows a manipulating, persuasive character who can convince a kingdom that it was perfectly acceptable for him to marry his brother’s wife just a few weeks after his death. It is the language Shakespeare has chosen to give Claudius that can convince others that he is morally correct. He uses imagery of facial features to represent the kingdom as one body.
Claudius was a significant ruler of the early Roman imperial era. He reigned from AD 41-54. He was easily influenced by those with questionable agendas, such as his last two wives and his freedmen, yet his principate was deemed successful. His expansion of the empire, his new reforms and his control over the senate were all beneficial to the state and and his rule was one which paved the way for those who ruled after him.
An interesting comparison between King Hamlet and Claudius is a biblical reference between Cain and Abel. Cain was the first person to be born and Abel was the first person to be killed. Cain was jealous of his brother who was younger yet he became a shepherd while he was a farmer. Whenever they would give offerings to god, Abel’s offering would be accepted while Cain’s offering wasn’t. Cain was jealous of his brother and angered that he was allowed such a better life than him. Besides being a shepherd, Abel’s wife which was decided for him was much more beautiful than Cain’s wife. On one fateful day. Cain invites Abel to the fields and then there Cain murders his brother. This biblical story is commonly associated with Hamlet. One brother takes the life of the other brother because they think that they are more deserving than the other brother. In both cases, the murderous brother is left to walk to their doom in the future and in a sense gets justice inflicted upon them.

Heroes Wirt and Greg find a schoolhouse run by a harsh, oppressive, anti-creativity old man. While they first find him to be a mean old guy, their opinions change when they see the man’s reasons for acting the way he is. “Who would’ve thought making a primer school for animals was such a bad idea? My life savings, my home--Everything I had went into that dear, dear school. And now I’m forced to sell these instruments just to keep it open.” (McHale, 3) Originally, the old man was seen as evil, but a simple adjusting of viewpoints enabled Wirt and Greg to find a solution to the problem: having a school fundraising event while enabling the students to enable their creative side. They realized that a severe lack of money for the school made the old man abandon turn his back on play and creativity. By using this information, the 2 brothers found a way to use fun to raise money for the school. This made the old man more open to creative exploration as more funds were coming in. With more funds, the old man became more lenient in allowing creative explorations in the curriculum. By learning more information and considering the old man’s point of view, the heroes were able to figure out a solution to the problem that benefited everyone, overcoming
