Health is a condition where body, mind, spirit, family, friends, community, education, job, and beliefs works in a holistic way determining the health of an individual. Health is the complete physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of the person. There is a lot of emphasize on the imporatce of mental and physical health resulting in various studies, programs , campaigns, research and so on, but the concept of emotional health is often neglected or given very little importance. The implications of decreased emotional well-being are related to mental health concerns such as stress, depression and anxiety. In 2014 – 2015 there were roughly ABOUT 260,404 (IRCC, Permanent Resident Data as of May 31, 2016) immigrants and in 2015 -2016 271,845 ( IRCC, Permanent Resident Data as of May 31, 2016) leading to a significant increase in the number of immigrants. And in recent times there is a growing concern and researches studying about their mental health and its importance. In the year 2012 the research on Mental health and well-being of recent immigrants in Canada: Evidence from the Longitudinal Survey of Immigrants to Canada by Robert and Gilkinson shows that overall, about 16% reported high levels of stress and 29% of immigrants are suffering from mental and emotional health problems which can be attributed to stress, isolation, language barrier, culture, weather and unemployment or under employment and also that recent immigrants in the lowest income quartile were significantly more likely to report experiencing high levels of stress and emotional problems compared to those in the highest income quartile. The immigrants who haven’t faced any emotional problems earlier tend to face a decrease in Emotional health because of the survival stress in the new land post – landing. They also tend to be afraid, overly worried about the future and focused on the past. Dr. Marisa Navarro in her book La Medicina Emocional (Emotional Medicine) says that “no one is safe from suffering this emotional state. It is a very serious problem that can result in constant states of anger, sadness, worry and even anxiety or depression”.
