Emma Watson has been well known ever since her first role in the series of Harry Potter in 2001. She has always loved school, and went to many colleges. Watson then started to get interested in feminism, and made her one of the smartest celebrities. Emma Watson is an advocate and role model for feminism through her actions, including her education, campaign work, and creation of the HeForShe feminist book club. Watson impacted feminism through her education by going to many colleges. “In 2014, Watson was named a U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations, a program that actively involves prominent personalities in the fields of arts and sports to promote U.N. programs (Dahya).” Watson was awarded a U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador by the United Nations. The United Nations is a program that supports the field of arts and sports. Since Watson was chosen to be a U.N.Women Goodwill Ambassador, she is expected to serve as an advocate for U.N. Women’s gender equality campaign known as HeForShe. Watson is helping out with the HeForShe campaign, and has been since September 20 2014. “This is the first campaign of its kind at the UN: we want to try and galvanize as many men and boys as possible to be advocates for gender equality. And we don’t just want to talk about it, but make sure it is tangible (Dahya).” This quote is from Watson’s HeForShe feminist speech. Watson wants to bring gender inequality to a conclusion. She doesn’t want to talk to people to bring this problem to an end. She is doing everything she can do to show men that women are just as equal as they are.
