The painting was done by artist Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze. This was one of the best paint I came a cross in the museum as it helps to understand the Art work in painting. Moreover, the soldiers in the distance appear to be smaller than the ones in the forefront boat that help the viewer to understand that the boat is nearer. The standing sailors in the middle of the boat are surrounded by light. This result keeps our attention of interest on the main aspects of the historic event: that founding father George Washington would become the first president and this event would culminate in the country's separation from the colonist represented by the American flag. Dark colors can often convey a sense of mystery or foreboding Light colors; and Intensity describes the purity or strength of a color. Undiluted bright colors are often associated with positive energy and heightened emotions.

Washington stands upright and unwavering, focusing his thoughts on the battle ahead or future. His determinations stimulate his soldiers as they struggle against great odds to cross the icy river at dawn. Proportionally, usually refers to the way different elements in a painting relating to each other in terms of size. The painter put George Washington to be bigger than other sailors to justify proportion. We are able to understand that art painting is just like any other art work. This painting is one of the most well know because the painting show the division of the untouched wilderness to the left, and the cultivated land that is treeless and is covered by field of crops. The diagonal division creates a strong composition which is the first place where the eyes drawn to. The left side of the painting contains the most luscious greenery, which untouched nature should have consist, and the right has more of a yellowish dried and flat landscape where humans contaminated the area. The foreground has a large broken or dead tree that frames the painting so the eyes do not wonder off. The dead trees also represent the untouched land, and rainstorm approaches on left side of the sky dramatizing it. The large river that divided the land has a shape of a loop, which indicated the bow of wooded collar of the yoked ox. Just like that painting from The Clove, Cole small figure in his painting would represent the size of the landscape. The composition gives the figure a feeling of isolation in the wilderness. The painting is organized simply. The background of the painting is painted in an Impressionist style. The blurring of edges, however, starkly contrasts with the sharp and hard contours of the figure in the foreground. The female figure is very sharp and clear compared to the background. The background paint is thick compared to the thin lines used to paint the figures in the foreground. The thick paint adds to the reduction of detail for the background. The colors used to paint the foreground figures are vibrant, as opposed to the whitened colors of the Impressionist background. The painting is mostly comprised of cool colors but there is a range of dark and light colors. The light colors are predominantly in the background and the darker colors are in the foreground. The vivid color of the robe contrasts with the muted colors of the background, resulting in an emphasis of the robe color. This piece of art really impressed me. I can’t stress enough how realistic the painting is. One can see what was going on that day in Venice. Like is said that a photograph is worth a 1,000 words this painting is a photograph for its time. My interpretation of the art work was for Canal to show daily life in his city of Venice, Italy. Using the building in the foreground to the right still stands in Venice, Italy and is called the Palazzo Ducale. In the painting, Leutze uses color representation to depict the mood as hardship leading into victory. In the background of the painting, the viewer can see the clouds departing to allow the sun to shine. The use of bright colors in front of Washington and his men creates the feeling that there is hope. The use of dark colors behind Washington and his men creates the feeling that they are running away from defeat. On the other hand, color can’t be used as representation in the poem unless it’s stated in the poem; in this case, color is not mentioned except for the description of the men’s clothes. In the poem, only diction can be used to represent moods and images for the reader. This is not the case anymore due to the invention of the camera in 1827, since it will always be the ultimate form of realism. Due to this, artists had the opportunities to branch away from the classical formation of realism, and venture into new forms such as what is known today as modern art. In the examination of two well known artists, Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollock, we can see that the artist doesn’t only intend for the painting to be just a painting, but more of a form of telling a scene through challenging thoughts, and expressing of the artists emotion in their creation.
The human element of this painting is seen in the ice locked schooner and a dog sled team approaching the ship. The lighting of the painting is surreal as the visible stars reveal it is night, but the shadows of the mountains suggest the ambient light is originating from the Aurora Borealis. The Icepack is craggy and asymmetrical, and directly reflects the color scheme of the Aurora. Church applied the same Hudson River School principles, which were popular and prevalent at the time, to this Articscape. Unlike science, art is subjective. The artist leaves behind a part of himself in his work. Therefore, each piece has its own distinct perspective. Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits show her view on her life, on how she has faced so many struggles, yet managed to be a strong person. When we see or hear or read an artistic creation, it produces a mood such as calm or loud, fear or safety. For example, the Eiffel Tower gives Paris a majestic awe; everyone who passes by feels the strength of the 113-year-old grand structure. Art also has a texture. Photographs reveal much through their textures; grainy surfaces often make the picture more realistic while smooth ones seem softer. When we hear a piece of music or see a film, a rhythm carries us from one part to another. Not just true for these two genres, rhythm is present in any artistic work. These few properties are characteristic of everything we encounter in the world of art, the world of human expression. Most have other special features also. Most of the time, though, we do not think about these characteristics because we do not have enough time to pay attention to anything for more than a few seconds.
Pop art is an art movement based on modern culture. It became popular in the mid- 1950s although it has been explored in different countries at different times. Some visual characters of pop art include: Repetition, commercial design, bright/vibrant primary colours, and ordinary objects made extraordinary.
