The television show The Blacklist is about a rookie profiler named Elizabeth Keen, she is called to work for the FBI because a criminal mastermind named Red Reddington surrenders to the FBI. Reddington is offering to catch an elusive terrorist, but will only corporate if he is able to communicate through Mrs. Keen. The need for control, and desire to influence people or events is Reddington’s key communication skill. By surrendering to the FBI and setting demands to be made; Reddington knows the FBI will have no choice but to comply because he has crucial information they need. Since Keen is a rookie she is automatically looked down upon as she begins working with the FBI. Everyone is suspicious of her character, wondering what her connection is to Reddington, what he wants from her, how can she help. This brings the need of inclusion, desire to be social, and included in groups, which is another one of Schutz’s needs. Keen has the desire to prove her profiling skills and her ability as a new FBI agent to communicate with Reddington to see why he choose her and how she is resourceful to him. …show more content…

Keen could not recall any memories of her mother and father other than her farther dying in a house fire. In the beginning of the series Reddington refers to Elizabeth Keen as Ms. Keen and as the series carry on Reddington starts referring to her as Liz and Keen starts referring to Reddington as Red; the two have formed some sorts of a bond which I think is similar to a father and daughter bond. The third of Schutz’s needs is the need for affection, the desire to give and receive love and liking.
