A number of other genres, throughout the decade, maintained a significant following. One genre that was slow to start was Hip-Hop, while it emerged in the 1970’s it didn’t become significant until the late 1980’s. Although Classical music began to lose impetus, it gave way to a new generation of composers through invention and theoretical development. The decade was also distinguished for its assistance to electronic music, which rose in reco...

Now music and life are bound up with each other, enough to be called an inextricable connection. Music has been developed by following the human society, and its developmental steps are very similar to the growth of ideology. For example, one concept became a major of society, and then another concept tried to be against the major. In other words, music has many different genres because of the number of major influences such as the Great Depression and technological advances. African-Americans had massive influences on the musical genre.

The Use of Electronic Technology in 20th and 21st Century Music In this essay, I have examined the use of electronic technology within 20th and 21st Century music. This has involved analysis of the development and continuing refinement of the computer in today’s music industry, as well as the theory of the synthesiser and the various pioneers of electronic technology, including Dr. Robert Moog and Les Paul. Also within the essay, I have discussed the increasing use of computers in the recording studio. The music itself, much like any other time period, was divided into many different categories or genres. These genres included church music, court music, street and town music, and the theatre music. The sound, convenience, and atmospheres related to each type of music have some similarities as well as differences. Due to the variety in musical styles, the instruments of the time had to be able to cover a wide span of sound. The need for these sounds led to the large number of different types of instruments. The music performed by DJs at EDM festivals consist of remixed songs and some that are original. The beats, bass, and rhythms are what people seem to really enjoy about this type of music, myself included. Because EDM is so different from conventional music, it is in some ways, breaking normal conventions that surround “typical” music. For example, some songs focus so much on the bass and sound, that there are no lyrics or singing at all. Although this aspect can be said about other genres of music, EDM is still quite different. Over the past few years, EDM has slowly started to enter mainstream music as well. Perhaps, this has helped with the surge of EDM festival popularity. Although the festivals are now quite large, one of the most popular festivals, EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival), took quite a few years to gain the popularity it has today. The popularity of these festivals has also lead to EDC festivals being held in Europe, Mexico, and other countries.

The term genre in music can be used to describe different forms and styles of music all over the world, whether it be country, rock, jazz, pop, and so on. But the terms used for genres can be considered broad and/or vague, so music that is commonly classified in any given genre can be categorized more specifically. For example, jazz can be a broad term for other subgenres such as Cool jazz, Free jazz, Dixieland, Ragtime and numerous other examples. This general rule applies to many different genres of music, and metal music is no exception.
In 1877, Thomas Edison invented the first Phonograph. This was a device that was capable of producing sound by mechanically etching grooves onto tin foil cylinders. Originally used to playback voices, Edison could have never foreseen the profound effects on his invention would have on musical consciousness (Koenigsberg, 1969). By producing the first sound recording, Edison was essentially catalyzing the reordering of music across time and space.
