Recommended: Post modern changes in marital and family life

The appearance of "flash marriage, flash divorce" is the result of China economy reform, change in marriage law and to reconstruct social status of China as Communist Revolution. The political, economical and other factors involved influenced and resulted in the appearance of migrant workers "flash marriage, flash divorce".

In 1950 new marriage law introduced in China, it re-set the marry age to 18 for women and 20 for men. The law eliminate proxy marriage, prohibit polygamy, ensure free marriage and monogamy so that both couple have to be in consent for the marriage, and most importantly to bring equal right for women and men. The law reform Chinese women traditional status, especially for those who are peasantry, from property to a proper respected human being. In fact, the appearance of "flash marriage, flash divorce" showed a reversal status of women and men as women become economically independent which will be discussed later on. The marriage law was further modified in the 1980s: liberalizing divorce and legalising foreign marriages. Women with equal right of men helped boosting China economy and as the legalisation of foreign marriages increased interactions between local citizens with the rest of the globe. It helped to reconstruction China social status with other countries.

As China economy developed, it became important for China to integrate to the rest of the global market, one way was through developing China internet social network. As well as for commercial businesses, internet became part of citizens social life as it provide new pathways for citizens to seek and obtain information other than from the Chinese government. As a whole, the development of China economy, change in marriage law, one-child policy, rural-urban paradox, education, inflation, traditions and beliefs, inheritance of property, increase global interactions all contribute to the appearance of migrant workers "flash marriage, flash divorce". Society appearance involve many factors contribution, yet it is just a repeat in history of country revolution that happened in France and Russia before. However, it is important for the Chinese government to face the flaw and inadequacy in their policy and release better policy that solve current problems.

One important law that granted specifically women more freedom in their social life was the creation of the Marriage Law of the People’s Republic of China in 1950, where it states that the “supremacy of man over woman, and in disregard of the interest of the children, is abolished” (Doc 5). The newly introduced concepts of free choice in partners, abortion, and monogamy that derived from this law changed the societal position on women and peasants which greatly expresses the amount of new social mobility
