Early Childhood Education Practicum Personal Statement

A continual thirst for knowledge and understanding of the education of children in the infant stages led me to complete a teaching degree. My aspiration to impart my knowledge and love of learning to children led me to the completion of the Bachelor of Early Childhood in Primary Education. Embracing my practicums in the education system has widened my understanding across the curriculum and shown me the importance of relational understanding to support children’s future learning.
During my studies at the 'Queensland University of Technology' (QUT) I undertook three school based practicums, where I collaboratively taught a year one class for four (4) weeks, a year two class for four (4) weeks, and a prep class for four (4) weeks. While on all practicums I worked collaboratively with colleagues in all areas of the curriculum.
These incorporated:
 effectively creating/using resources that were developmentally appropriate;
 ensuring sufficient curriculum exposure for all pupils;
 generating assessment opportunities that enhance future learning;
 individual lesson plans, (based on children's personal needs and development);
 providing equal learning opportunities for all students;

These included planning some lessons on my own and also collaborating team planning. I designed my lessons to stimulate and provide exciting opportunities to ensure children’s interest in what they were being taught and to develop a wide range of assessment opportunities. In turn, this helped me to become more confident and build effective and constructive relationships with children in challenging socio/economic conditions which also included, using consistent behaviour management
