My future as an Elementary Teacher

I would like to work in the independent Charter schools. Charter schools mission is to make sure their children make it to college. They have high standards for academics as well as character, the environment is highly structured, the focus on accountability, as well as use data-driven instructions. Classroom sizes are smaller, the ratio is 1:16, states allow typical classrooms in Ohio to hold 1:20(Squire 2014). It speaks to the fact that as a teaching professional you have such great expectation of your students. Having quality education in the early years will increase the likely hood of success through the later years (Russell,2010). The purpose of high-quality education expands not just the short term goals of early childhood education, but lays the foundation for high school, and beyond (Russell,2010). The results lead to for improving poverty in young children when they become adults their children will likely be in a better circumstance. When communities have enriched Early Childhood programs, it deters children from committing a crime. Children are learning early in life what it means to be part of a community, and how their choices have consequences. Men who had quality early childhood education in their beginning years, who are now over fifty years old shows a significant gain in employment, higher earnings, as well as obtain home ownership due to quality education (Bechtold,2011). My theoretical perspective on teaching and learning reflects of those of John Dewey way of thinking. I believe that children learn by doing. He also felt that letting children explore their question taught them to make real-life connections. He felt that true education should come from children's natural curiosity and should be guided coming from the teacher (Dewey1900). Learning needs to be relevant to the children.
