I was amazed at the work they are doing to save this species. I was also surprised at how difficult it was to find information on one of the most endangered frogs in the United States. This has definitely changed my view on local endangered species. People do not realize how important these smaller species are since there is no news coverage on them. They are endangered because of the damage we have caused to their habitat so it should be our responsibility to save them. There is definitely more attention on some endangered species than others (pandas). Most people do not realize how long the list of endangered species actually is, they only know about the ones the media talks about. That is great for those species but there are so many more that need our
The Pygmy Three-Toed-Sloth, also known as Bradypus pygmaeus scientifically, has been classified as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List. “They are restricted to one area from Isla Escudo de Veraguas in the archipelago of Bocas del Toro, Panama” (“Pygmy three-toed sloth (Bradypus pygmaeus)” (a)). The island is very small, measuring about 5 square kilometers in area. These sloths are usually found in red mangroves at sea level.
Get ready to learn about the deadliest and smallest poisonous animal in the world. The Strawberry Poison-Dart Frog (Oophaga pumilio) is the most poisonous animal in the world. What is the most important element of a good story? Although interesting characters, engaging plot development and didactic story lines certainly embellish the story, one could argue that the setting is the most crucial. Not only does the setting provide a baseline of necessary background information, it can also be used to enhance the story, just like the other elements listed. Edgar Allan Poe certainly takes advantage of this in “Hop Frog”, “The Cask of Amontillado”, and the “Masque of the Red Death”. In each of these stories, gruesome horrors occur, and because of the ingenious way Poe uses and manipulates the setting to his advantage, these stories’ horrors are amplified. In “Hop Frog” and “The Cask of Amontillado”, the main characters
...ress it causes for the animal not only the captivity, but also in the capture process. There are many health risks for the animal and it rips them away from their family. These animals are so amazing, but as you can see, it is better for them to stay in their environment with family and not be put on display.

The strongest reason for this is “The Panamanian golden frog is critically endangered. Hundreds of them live at zoos across the United States. However, this should be ignored because zoos are taking care of the species and away from predators. If the species were to live in the wild, there are chances that the animal would get harmed by other animals since that one frog lived in a zoo for a while, it would behave differently that other frogs who never experienced life in a zoo. In order to balance the two sides, zoos should be located in the wild to keep an eye out on the animals, and to have visitor be able to see their natural

In conclusion, Middleton did an excellent job compiling an article describing the currently flaws in the Endangered Species Act. Despite the authors many good points, I believe his solutions were lacking and rewriting of the act is needed. However, it was nice to see an author coherently write on a subject he seemed well informed on in a fairly non-biased manner.
In their study, (Kozak and Wiens, 2010), have shown that Time-for-speciation plays important role in generating hump shaped pattern in case of North American salamanders. They have shown that the ancestors of all existing plethodontids in eastern North America occurred predominantly at intermediate elevations and species occurring at higher and lower elevations have colonized them recently.
On one hand, people see zoos as a place for endangered and neglected animals that need assistance to survive. It has been a tradition for decades to visit a zoo and spend time with family and friends. By visiting a zoo, the public is educated and can personally see the beauty of nature, unlike a documentary. Visitors may then be encouraged to donate money to conserve and research wildlife. Not only do zoos benefit mankind, but they also work for the welfare of the animals. Take into consideration the story of orphan Leo, a snow leopard cub from Pakistan. Although once abandoned, Leo is now alive and well, thanks to the Bronx Zoo. Many endangered species have be...
Frogs live on every continent except Antarctica, but tropical regions have the largest amount. Like all amphibians, frogs spend half their lives near water because they must return to the water to lay their eggs. Frogs live underwater mostly when the are growing up to be an adult frog and when they are laying their eggs. When they hatch under water they are tadpoles and the breath with gills and swim using a tail. As they mature they loose their tail and they develop to be able to breathe air. During an extensive period of heat, a drought, frogs can enter a period of damancy similar to hibernation called starvation. Most of the frogs live in tropical and semitropical regions, most species of frogs breed in the spring or in early summer. Although the different species my vary in size and color, mostly all frogs have basic body structure. They have large hind legs, short front legs and flat head and body with no neck.

As urbanization continues to expand amphibian population are on a global decline. In many rural areas, the only wetland available for aquatic reproduction is artificial ponds. While some species are able to persist in such an environment the majority of amphibians are negatively affected. The introduction of non-native species along with habitat degradation affects the successful reproduction of these native amphibians. Therefore, an understanding of the relationship between these species and their habitat is essential for conservation. This research sets out to determine conservation priorities for pond breeding amphibians in the hopes of preserving their existing populations.
