“The Unabomber” or Dr. Theodore Kaczynski was born to a working-class family in 1942. As Ted grew his teachers in school noticed an aptitude for mathematics. By the time he was in middle school, he had skipped 6th grade and skipped 11th, graduating high school at the early age of 15. Kaczynski then went to Harvard and proceeded to have a career as a math professor before he resigned in 1969. From there, Kaczynski moved to a remote area in Montana where he began journaling and constructing bombs. He went on to mail or place 16 bombs across the country over an 18-year span. The Unabomber was an organized killer who planned out his targets in advance and had specific targets that served his goal. He was not close to these people, but he associated them with the system that he felt ridiculed by, and they were against his mission to get revenge. Kaczynski was a mission-oriented killer who worked for many years to pick out specific targets. His mission was to break down the industrial system and take revenge on a society that had forced him to feel like an outcast for his whole life. The people that Kaczynski killed were the owner of a computer store, a well-known advertising executive, and a Timber Association lobbyist. Kaczynski acquired his targets from a phone book that he checked out from the library in his town. He also kept a journal of how each of the bombings went and ways to improve. Kaczynski was diagnosed with both paranoid schizophrenia and Premorbid Paranoid Personality Disorder with Avoidant and Antisocial features after his arrest. Kaczynski himself describes skipping the 6th grade as a pivotal moment for him because he did not fit in with the older students and neglected to develop the social skills that his peers
