An opening remark from Dr. Fonge and Ms. Fonge appreciating the parents and the staff members of the Fonge Academy for working together to achieve a better learning environment. Dr. Fonge giving thanks to his dad for believing, supporting him throughout his journey and for being a great dad. The activities begin with memory verse, in which each student say a couple lines of their chosen verse. Follow along the dance performance of different grade levels, on which one of the group caught my attention because I saw people going near the performance and dropping money off a bucket. The students also showed how good they could broadcast news and debate on weather should parents buy their kids Christmas dresses every Christmas. It was a tough decision
Amidst the sea of blue and gold, one member stands silently in awe of the multitude of people. The sleeves of his blue jacket hang stiffly at his side and the copper zipper shines brightly; both signs of a brand new jacket-- a brand new FFA member. His face looks passive as if he really doesn't know how to react, but the sparkle in his eyes betrays his excitement. This is the first FFA activity he has attended as a high school freshman. To the average person, the boy looks quiet and shy. However, a seed of strength is beginning to take root inside this young man. Through being involved in this convention as well as many more FFA activities in the young man's career in FFA, a world of possibilities is opening up for his future.
The school improved Jimmy’s abilities in these areas as well. In school, Jimmy uses the computers and the iPads, these software’s help with recognizing patterns and using verbal skills. Jimmy does not need a tablet at all times because he is verbal and can communicate basic needs and his opinions to people he is comfortable with. Jimmy is being faced with real life situations at the school he attends. The school is diverse; there are students of color and even females in his classroom. Jimmy’s family and the school make sure to stress to Jimmy that people do look different from one another, this is a precaution so Jimmy is not surprised or unexpected by diversity. Overall, Jimmy’s school does a good job in involving the parents and family members of the student. Jimmy also has an annual family day where last spring there were recreational activities such as dancing, playing tag, and a BBQ. The school does very well with having the family involved. At the school, Jimmy is taught office skills where he works in a print shop. Jimmy has learned how to organize files, how to use a stapler, how to cut things on the line, and how to laminate
The purpose of this essay is to reflect and critically study an incident from a clinical setting whilst using a model of reflection. This will allow me to analyse and make sense of the incident and draw conclusions relating to personal learning outcomes. The significance of critical analysis and critical incidents will briefly be discussed followed by the process of reflection using the chosen model. The incident will then be described and analysed and the people involved introduced. (The names of the people involved have been changed to protect their privacy) and then I will examine issues raised in light of the recent literature relating to the incident. My essay will include a discussion of communication, interpersonal skills used in the incident, and finally evidence based practice. I will conclude with explaining what I have learned from the experience and how it will change my future actions.
In the front of a fourth-grade classroom, there sits the ever-smiling face of a little girl. Each morning, this girl is the first to class, dressed neatly and appropriately, with a backpack full of supplies in order for her to be successful in the classroom. Her homework is always finished, and her parents always make sure she is doing her reading, and trying for excellent grades. The constant efforts of the child in the classroom, and her perpetual kindness to all of her peers has persuaded the teacher into being impressed with the little girl’s work this year. She decides, along with her fellow faculty, to award the child a certificate stating she is the Student of the Month. The child barely makes it through the bus ride home due to
There are countless lessons to be learn - how to overcome challenges, development of hard-work ethic, responsibility and communication. First, to overcome any major challenges, Rafe makes it a volunteer project so kids who are not interested do not feel forced to participate. The students who are involved then meet four times a week for an hour. He purchases the plays on CDs and pauses at certain parts to help the students understand what they just listened to. Rafe believes understanding what is being said will allow the students to memorize the words easier. Once parts have been assigned in the play, each student gets a burnt CD to take home and study their parts by listening to it as if they were listening to their favorite pop
Good morning teachers, faculty, administrators, family, friends, and of course students. It is a great privilege to be standing here today and representing our class on our eighth grade Class Day. Can you believe it? Four years ago, most of us walked into this school as nervous as we were the first day of school. We were the tiny fifth graders, the youngest students in this middle school, not knowing where anything was and how to navigate the school. Now, those same four years later, we’re leaving this school behind to a whole new school being just as nervous as we were when we first arrived. It has been a long four years as well as a short four years. Long because of all the tests, quizzes, finals, and projects, but short because of the lifelong friendships, the lasting memories, and the truly interesting and amazing things we learned in-between. The Abington Heights Middle School is definitely a welcoming, fun, memorable, and great school that I will never forget. These four years spent with these wonderful classmates has been an extraordinary journey with many cherishable memories.
Mr. Sneller had a unique relationship with his students. Immediately, as I walked into the room I was overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the class. Adorning the walls were trinkets from all over the world. The desks were arranged in groups of L-shapes, so that students could both direct their attention to the front of the classroom and be attentive to each other. All of these contribute to the roles that were presented of the teacher and his students. The students saw Mr. Sneller as their friend, whom they joked with, laughed with, but also respected. Consequently, Mr. Sneller shared this relationship with his students. He described to me the joy he found in teaching families year after year and the special bond he made with students that allowed him to ‘joke’ with them more. It was because of Mr. Sneller’s view of his students, the idea that he was their friend helping them along their journey that he was able to treasure each individual student for who they already were whe...
Buses pull up to the front of this ancient school just like every other morning. The only difference is the sun is still sleeping behind the mountains and these buses are filled with dance teams ready to compete instead of the regular high school students. The school’s front steps are cracked and little black circles on the concrete show where lazy students have spit out their gum on the ground. Inside the host team, the Pocatello Indianettes, stand ready by a white plastic table waiting to check teams in and lead them to their dressing rooms. The table is covered in tan folders filled with each team’s
Sorry to disturb you this late evening, I hope you had a great summer. This summer I read a book called The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown and I really wanted to get the chance to discuss with you, the revelations I've received from this book. Not only have I received my own personal conviction lessons from this story but I've also received insight on how this historical experience relates to our physical education class. This inspiring story main nitty-gritty focused on remarkable underdogs rising out of the shadows in pursuit of excellence and eminent. It honestly reminded me of the story of the Phoenix. The Phoenix, is a bird that is consumed by flames but rises from the ashes. This concept pertains to the 9 Americans who faced off against a hundred challenges just to get to the Rio Olympics in 1936 and conquer the impossible. As I was reading, I thought of our dance class and how Daniel James Brown's descriptions of the impact each member of the University of Washington
That's what I thought. The season changed with cold rains and blistering chills to blooming flowers and emerging birds. It was spring, and the school year would be over soon. This is when I finally knew why everyone hated her class. Mrs. Williams gave us the dreaded and most painful oral, The Play. It consisted of singing, dancing, acting, and prancing across the gym. Could it get any worse? This was Mrs. Williams' fourth grade class, of course it would. On a piece of paper...
Class started by the Mrs. Polzin greeting the students with, what Jimmy thought to be, a fake smile and good morning. She sat down at her desk and asked the pupils to take out their show and tell items. Other students had brought their pictures; others had brought caps and sweatshirts from different countries. Jimmy thought, like the others, his show and tell item was the best.
It was finally the first day of school; I was excited yet nervous. I hoped I would be able to make new friends. The first time I saw the schools name I thought it was the strangest name I’ve ever heard or read, therefore I found it hard to pronounce it in the beginning. The schools’ floors had painted black paw prints, which stood out on the white tiled floor. Once you walk through the doors the office is to the right. The office seemed a bit cramped, since it had so many rooms in such a small area. In the office I meet with a really nice, sweet secretary who helped me register into the school, giving me a small tour of the school, also helping me find
We spoke about the important people in the classroom which includes the child’s family, the child, and the teacher. The family is not physically present in the classroom each day. However, the children are products of their home environment, and the relationships
The teachers were giving the students positive reinforcement throughout the day. In class we talked about how positive reinforcement helps the students to succeed in their classes. Another ah-ha moment was the environment of the classroom. The classroom had no windows at all. In class we talked about what kinds of things are distracting to students with ASD in classrooms and one of those things are the windows in classrooms. The third ah-ha moment was the parent sheets that the teacher and the school provide for the parents. In class we talked about how parent involvement is very important for the students with disabilities. The teacher fills out the parent involvement paper that lets the parents know how the child did in school this week and what their child needs to improve on. The students must give their paper to their parents to look at when they get home. The things that I had learned during my observation experience that I will use in the future for my classroom will be including student learning objectives in the classroom, using positive reinforcement, and get the parents more involved in their child’s education. I will go over with the students what the student learning objectives are in the beginning of class so the students will know what they will be doing and what they will be learning throughout the day. I also will use positive
Finally, the day of the form evening arrived. The parents in the audience were in for an impressive display. Ours was the third item. The girls trooped in eager to give their best and to make the class look good. We all danced to the music, perfect and well co-ordinated in our steps. I was right in the centre and was one of the two dancers in the front.
