Living a Double life Do you know what it is like to live a double life? Well I do. I come from a family that is half American and half Mexican. You might think that this is a disadvantage but I feel like it is an advantage. I do stuff differently than most people and my family loves in their own way. Our culture is different than most families, our religion is different and the way we celebrate traditions are uncommon. Having a double nationality is really fun and my family is really original because we do things differently. Sometimes it is as though I am living two different lives at the same time. Having a double nationality allows me to get the best of both worlds. *(what does it really mean, more detailed)* There are very distinct cultural differences between life in Mexico and the U.S. Mexican activities are sometimes a bit exotic as we like to have a lot of fun. We don't always have a lot but we have more than enough and sharing is second nature. “Mi casa es tu casa” (My house is your house) is a very common expression in Mexico and we mean it. My family likes to practice the best aspects of both cultures whether it's being very courteous as in Mexico or practicing “Cleanliness is next to godliness” as in the U.S. We also like to celebrate double; we love to celebrate the fourth of July in the states and the 16th of September in Mexico. We get goose bumps all over yelling “Viva Mexico” and yelling “God bless America.” Mexicans and Americans culture are divergent from each other and I am used to celebrating stuff the Mexican way because I lived there my whole life (fifteen years). My family celebrates New Years with a big meal, many friends and lots and lots of fireworks. Thanks to my dad and mom I can relish both
