Violence is “the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, or against a group or community that either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment or deprivation.” (WHO, 2014, p.2) (Global Assessment report on violence). Domestic violence refers to acts of violence that occur between people who have, or have had, an intimate relationship in domestic settings (Mitchell, 2011) These acts include physical, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse (Healey,2014). ABS (2013) states that approximately one in five Australian women and one in twenty men have experienced the intimate partner violence (as cited in Relationship Australia, 2015) (http://www.relationships. org.au/what-we-do/research/online-survey/january-2015-domestic-violence). According to the Australian Indigenous health info net (http://www.healthinfonet. ecu.edu.au/health-facts/health-faqs/aboriginal-population), the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) estimates that there were 713,600 Indigenous people living in Australia and the Northern Territory had the highest percentage (30%) of the total population (ABS, 2011) (http://www.abs.gov.au/ausstats/abs@.nsf /mf/3238.0.55 .001). In the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Survey (2014-15) describes that approximately one in eight (13.3%) of indigenous people aged (15-over) had suffered from physical violence and (8.1%) of victim had faced more than one time. Around (8.8%) that means one in ten had been imprisoned and males incarcerated rate (14.6%) were around 4 times more while compared with famales imprison rate (3.5%) (ABS, 2016).
