DISCUSS THE EXTENT OF PROTECTION FOR WOMEN AGAINST MALE VIOLENCE BY THE STATE. For this essay I am going to look at Domestic Violence against women and what the State is doing to protect them. Domestic Violence is now a well-known global occurrence affecting not only women but also their children too. Violence against woman has been around since the dawn of time. We have all seen cartoon pictures of the caveman dragging his mate behind him by her hair. It was just something that men did. Woman had no protection against men especially if they were married to their attacker. For the first 75 years of the 20th century women were seen as meek and subservient to their men and were also owned by those men. Men had a social right to keep their women under control. Things began to change from the late 1960’s early 1970’s. As feminism became more popular the feelings that men owned their women began to subside. But this change in society did not so much to change the occurrence and violence of violence in the home. So what exactly is domestic violence? “ Domestic Violence is usually defined as physical, emotional, sexual and other abuse by someone (usually but not always a man) of a person (usually not always a woman) with whom they have or have had some form of intimate relationship such as marriage, in order to maintain power and control over that person. It may include threats to kill or harm the woman and/or her children or other family members” (Barron 1992) Lists of typical injuries sustained by victims include: § Bruising § Bleeding § Hair loss § Knife wounds § Scratches to body and face § Concussion § Broken/loss of teeth This list could go and on. Injuries do not have to include physical but also mental. The cause of domestic violence against women can never fully be documented. There is the Liberal approach that violence against women is a rare occurrence and that it is only a small number of men who will abuse. They blame social backgrounds that form a cycle of abuse. If the father used violence against the mother then the child will see it as normal. They also feel that to push a man as far as to commit an assault sexual frustration should also be taken into consideration. But the criticisms against this approach include the notion that not all men who come from a broken home go out and commit rape and systematic abuse. They see that the women have to... ... middle of paper ... ...ed. The state can only go so far, the rest is up to better education from a young age. Recent amendments to Queensland and Federal Legislation have not solved the problem of domestic violence in Queensland, let alone Australia. Domestic violence involves both physical and emotional behaviour with the patterns of this behaviour centred on power and control for the abuser. Legislation involved in protecting women and men in a domestic violence relationship has been amended to better protect victims. On the other hand, there is an escalating social and legal issues with domestic violence within Australia. Recommendations need to be done to amend Australia legislation, to add protection to victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence is growing rapidly within Queensland and Australia and needs further change to legalisation
Domestic abuse is a significant and threatening issue in the United States. Sadly, the rates of this shameful violence are increasing. This violence is not limited to the privacy of relationships and homes, it occurs everywhere and in all relationships. Football player, Ray Rice portrayed an act of domestic violence when he punched his wife and knocked her unconscious on February 15 of 2014. Women are heavily affected by this abuse and it’s the leading cause of injuries on women. According to crime reports (qtd. in “Domestic Violence”), one woman is beaten by her husband or partner every 15 seconds in the United States. Also, according to a report (qtd. in “Domestic Violence”), domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined. Domestic abuse is not simple, it has a historical context to it, it creates abusive cycles in relationships, and it links to economic statuses.
Domestic violence has now more than ever become an increasing problem with three-quarters of all women killed in New South Wales dying at the hands of an intimate partner (Phillips & Park, 2006). Domestic violence is defined as ‘ongoing physical, emotional, social, financial and/or sexual abuse used to exert control and power by one partner over another in an adult relationship’ (Buchanan, 2008, p. 2). The media often constructs domestic violence in such a way that it conveys a two-fold message on the issue. On the one hand, it uses language to express myths that tend to put the blame on the victims, as opposed to the offenders; these myths reduce the compassion for the victims involved and extrapolate unjust conclusions about the individuals’

Thesis: In my paper, I will be examining the different types, possible causes, and effects of Intimate Partner Violence, and what treatments or programs are available to combat this growing problem in America. Regardless of differing approaches to fight it, statistics show that women all across the world suffer from the effects of domestic violence at a similar rate independent of class, race, or religion.
This epidemic had a detrimental impact on not only those directly involved, but society itself. Whatever form the violence takes, it has serious and often devastating consequences for victims, their extended families and the community. Domestic violence puts more women aged 15-44 at risk of ill-health and premature death than any other risk factor. (White Ribbon). It remains the largest single cause of homelessness among women and children (NSW Women’s Refuge Movement Inc.).In turn, Domestic Violence comes at an enormous economic cost of an estimated $13.6 billion nationally each. This figure is expected to rise to $15.6 billion by 2021 (National plan to reduce violence against women and their children 2010 – 2022). It can also be criticised in application, due to the lack of mandatory legal protections post incident. Current legislative tools do not provide temporary removal of domestic violence offenders from their homes. Victims and their perpetrators, following reports are more often forced to remain in the same household, which can lead to further aggravation of circumstances. On this basis alone, victims more often than not are reluctant to report future incidences and may also withdraw initial reports in fear. Although effective in identifying elements of domestic violence, regarding dynamic relations and forms of violence, these statistics indicate ineffective application
The purpose of this assignment is to show an understanding of Project Management and all elements involved in the planning and execution of projects.
The Encyclopaedia Britannica defines domestic violence as the social and legal concept that refers to any abuse – including physical emotional, sexual or financial – between intimate partners, often living in the same household. This essay will review the history of domestic violence as a criminal offense, It will asses the legal and social changes that over time have altered how the criminal justice system reacts to domestic violence. It will outline the response of the police, courts and the prosecution of domestic violence as well as discuss the different correction programs, state legislations and government sponsored campaigns that better describe how, the Australian criminal justice system has, over the years, responded to domestic violence.
The British Crime Survey ‘2000 is stating a serious truth. As what is claimed on ACEP.org (American College of Emergency Physicians), “Domestic violence is the single largest cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than muggings, car accidents, and rapes combined.” Not only in the United States but also spread world-wide, domestic violence is becoming a global issue.
New South Wales Law dictates “Domestic and family violence takes many forms. It involves violent, abusive or intimidating behaviour carried out by a partner, carer or family member to control, dominate or instil fear. It doesn’t have to be physical abuse. It can be emotional, psychological, financial, sexual or other types of abuse.” (NSW Police, 2013). Domestic Violence impacts on many people in all kinds of ways. It is not only the victim, but the whole community who experiences the effects of Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence causes more ill-health than high blood pressure, obesity, smoking and premature death. Domestic Violence costs the government $8 billion dollars per year. Statistics show that one out of three victims are male who will experience Domestic Violence at some stage in their life (Southern Adelaide Health Service, 2008)
From the statistical analysis result, the highest overall ratings for the levels of importance of the eight performance criteria are: timely completion of project; effectiveness on cost management; improvement of quality; profit to all involved parties; no conflicts and contractual disputes; job satisfaction of all parties; improvement of safety and health without major accidents or injuries; and improvement of environmental friendliness and controlling on waste management. Time, cost and quality are widely known as the fundamental criteria to achieved success in a project (Enshassi et. al. 2009). Timely completion of the project has become the most concerned issue in a construction project in Malaysia. According to Lim and Mohamed (2000), from the macro view, timely completion of the project has appeared to be the primary concern for the clients and stakeholders. This can be further support by Hatush and Skitmore (1997), as they stated that to ensure the contractors complete the construction project on time, some of the contracts are cover with a bonus clause. Construction cost is l...

An overhang, usually horizontal, with a highly reflective upper surface that reflects daylight onto ceiling and deep into a space.
In the entire country, the patriarchal and sexist culture is experienced in society and still see the problem of domestic and family violence as simply "fight of husband and wife" in an attempt to restrict violence against women only to the familiar environment (SILVA, 2011, p. 53).
