Domestic violence is a pattern in a relationship where one partner shows abusive behavior to gain, maintain and take control over their intimate partner ("Domestic Violence | OVW | Department Of Justice"). There are many ways to show Domestic violence such as sexual, emotional, physical and psychological. Sexual abuse is when your partner forces sexual contact without your consent. Emotional Abuse is when your partner makes you feel like your unworthy. This makes a person feel like their self-worth and self-esteem isn’t good enough for the person they’re with. This also can also makes a person commit suicide because of the depression they’re having. These crimes include assault, kidnapping, false imprisonment, rape and homicide. Property crimes are crimes that you have the intention to steal, burglarize or do theft with someone’s property. ("Personal Crimes Vs Property Crimes"). The way domestic violence relates to both is that a person who is in a personal crime relationship tens to get beat up and hurt most of the time. In a personal relationship that person just wants to hurt and harm you. They intentionally hit you and bruise you up. Women didn’t have the rights to speck up on this very hard subject. Domestic Violence was once seen as a private act. Many people felt like domestic violence was a random choice people made. Many women did have the right to speak up and say how they felt about domestic violence because they didn’t want to get beat on any more than that had to. If they did people would look at them and not care It was no laws that said you couldn’t beat on your wife. A women’s job has always been to stay home and cook and clean and take care of the kids. Women didn’t have a voice and it was ok to the husband because they did all the work. This has been going on for years. The due diligence was put in place to help women human rights underscores the government’s responsibility to prevent, investigate and punish acts of violence against women ("Human Rights History » Women’s rights: Due Diligence, Private Actors, And Domestic Violence"). As time in 2017 woman’s rights have come a long way. We just had women run for office. The future is already bright when it comes to domestic violence laws. Laws are straighter and head on.
