Many believe Julius Caesar deserved to live, while others believed that he deserved to die. It has facts to prove either could be correct. In William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, we think that Julius Caesar did not deserve to die. JC was a friend to many and had lots of good ideas and political knowledge. Our first reason in saying that JC didn't deserve to be murdered, was that only a few people thought he should be murdered. First of all, nobody deserves to be murdered. Brutus thought the only way for JC to not be leader, was for him to be dead. There were many other ways they could have handled that without JC dying. For example, JC didn't really have much interest in being leader, so we think they could maybe have talked him out of it. Second, the few people that wanted him to be murdered, also wanted to be the leaders themselves, or they wanted their friends to. Brutus says, “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more.” (3.2.1555) Third, he had many people who wanted him to be the leader of Rome, and they obviously didn't want him to die. The biggest reason that we found was that JC didn't have the best interest in Rome. He was a great political leader but he also didn't care that much about being the overall leader. First, His best friend thought that he should be killed because he was so sure that Rome wouldn't be best off with JC as leader. Second, when they offered him leader he declined four times. He obviously did not have the best interest in Rome if he didn't think he could be leader. Third, the people who killed him knew that his death would have a big impact on the people of Rome. They wanted to make a point that they had the best interest in Rome by showing that they would go as far as to kill their friend for their country’s
