As you charge towards the finish line sprinting as fast as you can, you hear the crowd chanting your name, and then...you cross the finish line and you break through the ribbon. The crowd roars! Why would you want to get rid of this competitive but happy emotion from schools around our country? Sports have been a favorite American pastime and it’s nationally recognized. So why take away something extremely valued to our nation and something the current and future generations will remember by? To begin with, sports help you with personal values (such as discipline, etc.) in your life. It sets you up on the right path for future achievements in life. To me the role of sports in society is for men and women of all ages to grow and develop and be responsible members of society and the community. Sports can bring a community together as long as it doesn 't become the religion of who we are as christians. It also gives us a different setting to interact with each other and learn from one another so we can become better as a whole. Coming together as a community and being able to learn and have fun is probably one of the most important aspects to me when it comes to sports. There should be no reason that parents have to get into arguments because of a call a referee makes in their child 's game. Also sports have become a bigger deal in society then just about fun and learning the sport. A great deal of it, at the higher level has so do with economics and social status’. Players with exceptional talent are now seen in commercials and have huge salaries to play sports or even at the college level earn scholarships to get into colleges for free. Defending Titles Diversely: A Persuasive Essay about the Lack of Diversity in Sports Many Americans have seen or at least heard of the movie “Remember the Titans.” The classic film focuses on a school that blends black and whites and takes on an African American head coach. The coach knows the importance of winning, but also knows the team must work together to get those wins and have respect for every single person in the locker room. Although coach Boone was still put in a tough situation with the school board and the community, he was able to lead his team, with the help of a white assistant coach, to an undefeated season. In today’s game, foreign and international players have become a common site and are fundamental parts of many NBA teams. Ever since Italian-born, Canada raised Henry Biasatti stepped foot on a National Basketball Association court, international talent has become an important part of a, now global, NBA. International players such as Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan, and Dirk Nowitzki have contributed to the league with All-Star selections, Most Valuable Player awards, and even Most Valuable Player of the NBA Finals. There’s no doubt, international talent has turned the NBA into a diverse, ultra-competitive professional sports league.

When a person of a specific gender enters a non-traditional sport for their gender/sex, many social and moral issues will arise challenging that person involved in that particular sport. The intentions of the individual will be questioned as well as their personal interest in the sport. Before any of these questions are asked, there must be a redefinition of gender roles, femininity, and masculinity. In order for a person to enter a non-traditional sport for their gender/sex without being criticize about gender morality, society must set flexible definitions for femininity and masculinity.
Gender in sports has been a controversial issue ever since sports were invented. In the early years, sports were played only by the men, and the women were to sit on the sidelines and watch. This was another area of life exemplifying the sexism of people in which women were not allowed to do something that men could. INTRODUCTION Racial diversification has become one of the many objectives of several sport organizations throughout the world. In New Zealand for instance, we have many parks, sports clubs, and recreations that are accessible to everybody, regardless of their ethnicity. However, on the other side of the spectrum, there are a few sports organizations in New Zealand, which only allows certain ethnic groups to be a part of it. In other words, racial discrimination remains as a plague in the sporting institution (Armstrong, 2011).
Kahn (1991) stated that blacks were not put into positions that involved leadership and critical thinking. In the 1980s they were not pitchers, catchers, and infielders in baseball, or quarterbacks, linebackers, and kickers in football in the 1960s and 1970s, or guards in basketball in the 1980s. Many whites refused to take orders from the black players. Another reason for positional segregation was the discrimination in training opportunities. In the transition from college to pro, many black players went from central positions to non-central positions as described by Madison and Landers (Kahn, 1991). Positional segregation also occurred in hockey with the French-Canadians at defense in the 1970s and 1980s (Kahn, 1991).
As a professional in the field of education and athletics, I have embraced diversity and cultural awareness within athletics and recognize each as a priority and an ethical imperative. As a coach and educator, I value initiatives that promote diversity and cultural awareness because they can improve the quality of the team, department and university. Additionally, I value and actively promote diversity within athletic programs, student-athlete populations, and university staff because diverse participation can serve as a stimulus for enhanced decision making, increased productivity, and a competitive advantage. Teens come from many different backgrounds, some not as great as others, and sports can really help those who are struggling. When asked, the soccer coach at Laney High School talked about his experiences with teenagers and sports and he explained that he has watched students completely transform positively and that he believes that sports really helped them excel to who they are (Noble, 2016). One thing that sports are proven to impact is grades and school performance. A man by the name of Howell Wechsler studied and analyzed fifty cases that examined the effects of physical activity on school performance and he found that half of the students showed positive associations between the two and none of them showed any sign of negative correlation (Bliss, 2015). His research proved that kids tend to focus more if they are involved in sports. Another study done by James Pivarnik had discovered that all students who currently were involved with sports scored thirty percent higher on standardized tests then those who didn’t (Bliss, 2015). This is all due to the skills you are building while engaged in sports, research says (Harris, 2013). These skills include time management, ability to work with others, and intuitive to complete work. The study also found that even though other sorts of extracurricular that are academic can provide these same results, sports is the only one that provides positive impacts consistently (Harris, 2013). Another positive lifestyle impact that sports holds is that it helps relieve stress that the normal teenager might experience. The average teenager goes to school for eight hours a day, has a job, gets tons of homework, maintains a social life, and studies for tests, and that creates a lot of stress for a normal fourteen to eighteen year old. Sport Education is physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs. It usually makes the kids want to be competitive with one another and it teaches them the importance of a winner and loser. This type of teaching method helps students learn how to play sports and gets them involved. The earlier you start using this method, the earlier the children learn the basic functions and skills behind activities. When children start to understand the sport or activity that is being taught, they will want to start doing more activities in and outside of the classroom. It is not only important for someone to be physically fit to master a sport but also be psychologically stable. While one focuses on that, the former influences the latter and vice-verse.
