From 1945 to present times a destructing weapon has put the lives of citizens on edge. Because of the atomic bomb (a vicious well structured weapon that can take out millions of people.) Citizens have been cautious and tentative to what the bomb can do. Even though it is dangerous it is a major part of our past, present, and future. Without the weapons today’s society would be contrasting The atomic bomb is a weapon of mass destruction that uses power which is released by the splitting of atomic nuclei. In the process of splitting a great amount of thermal energy, gamma rays, as well as two or more neutrons is released. This wildly dangerous weapon was developed while World War II was taking place. Scientists were working on the top secret Manhattan Project. There have only been two times in history that the U.S. has dropped an atomic bomb. The first one dropped by the Enola Gay B-29 bomber on August 6, 1945. It was dropped over Hiroshima Japan and killed 70,000 instantly. The second atomic bomb was dropped only three days posterior of the first one over Japan. It was released over Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. This explosion annihilated tens of thousands of people. Orwell stated that “when they had a new and devastating weapon would be within reach of almost everybody” (Orwell). This was not true at the time, but currently the bomb is withheld by more than one countries. These are unstable countries in which the U.S. doesn’t trust. North Korea has been threatening for decades. While the reclusive regime may have previously lacked the necessary weaponry, the North now has the kind of capabilities to turn at least some of its threats into promises.
