What is engineering? Engineering is the study of innovating and problem solving in order to create a better method. What type of work does engineers do? Engineering is a diverse field that can put you in a situation that requires you to know more knowledge and skills than you already have. They think of creative solutions and work with others, motivating people to invent, design, and create things that are useful and that matter.
The Engineering Professions
Engineering has a reference of four major disciplines in the field: chemical, electrical, civil, and mechanical. All the engineering jobs or positions would apply to these four and relate to them; connecting them to complete the research or project. A chemical engineer works with the scientific principles, chemistry, physics, and engineering. They work on finding innovative and creative ways of producing everyday goods. Such as making a new type of softer material for clothes. Civil engineering is based on designing, building, and maintaining structures. Making up our world's highways, skyscrapers, railways, bridges, and water reservoirs. Dealing with the maintenance and infrastructure of buildings. Civil engineering can sometimes be lectured to pass on knowledge to the young and future engineers. ...They share the same base skill sets and are both different types of problem solvers. I think engineering is called the stealth profession because they are the ones who think in and outside the box; but really it is because most people don’t actually know what engineers do. It is kind of unfortunate because everything is somehow linked to engineering. Last but not least, What is engineering and what type of work do engineers do? A very complex field to where you need to know a bit of everything and always keep up. They can work in fields that relate to the four main disciplines: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Chemical.

Engineering is the application of scientific, economic design and a wide range of other specialized fields of engineering. As an engineer, there are four major different areas of engineering work that I can concern about, that is chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Beyond this four, sources separate to other main branches. Based on the electrical engineering is concerned with the basic forms of energy that run the world, there is a hopeful future in taking this major as my direction of future. However, what exactly is the benefit of this major; am I suppose to choose this major; what kinds of job opportunities that I am able to get and various of other questions are what I concerned the most.

There are various types of engineering that make the world the way it is. The engineering field is a huge necessity to the world. The field provides a sense of infrastructure and stability to anywhere and everywhere, and without engineers, the world would pretty much fall apart. Lots of people assume that engineering only has to deal with the environment and the external structures that make up where we live, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. Other types of engineering include the makeup of the body, and the function of the specific internal organs. This is when we land on the field of biomechanics. Electrical Engineers research, develop, design, and test electronic components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, and scientific applications (Cosgrove 749). They are concerned with devices that use small amounts of electricity that make up electronic components such as integrated circuits and microprocessors. By applying principles and techniques of electronic engineering they design, develop, and manufacture products such as computers, telephones, radios, and stereo systems (EGOE, 121). Electrical engineers touch everyone lives through the things they have designed or created. Electrical engineers have invented the lights in your house, the television, the stereo, the telephone, computers, and even your doctor’s blood pressure gauge (Stine 300).
My decision to become an electrical engineer was not a decision I took too long ago. It is something that I decided to pursue when I entered a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) high school. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed working with computers and building circuits, and the fact that this career involved many subjects. Doing a lot of research to understand better what it meant to be an Electrical Engineer, I found out that in order to succeed in this career one had to know a little bit of everything. In other words, subjects such as science and math are essential to know if someone wants to be successful electrical engineer. An electrical engineer is someone who finds practical solutions to everyday problems that involve electricity, such as computers, cell phones, among other electrical equipments. In order to create a useful device one must know where to start and this is where science comes in. An electrical engineer must be able to use the scientific method, which means; one must form a procedure, test it out, and write a conclusion. These parts of the scientific method must be written clearly, so that others can recreate and test out a device or project. Math also plays a key role in this area of study, because one must be precise when creating a new device that others are going to use. One such responsibility came upon me when Rancon Engineering Ltd was awarded a contract for the design & construction of 6-storey residential building, Rangs Heritage, which is at Uttara in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

I want you to think back to what might be the greatest invention ever. Dependant upon how well you know your history you could possibly say the wheel, the car, the airplane, the television, the autonomous robot. All of these are great ideas that have different eras in history, but they all have something in common, these creations were all invented by engineers. Do not get the misconception that engineers have been around since the dawn of time but the concept of engineering itself has. Those great revolutionaries all had ideas and solved problems which are still qualities that engineers of this day and age use. Webster defines engineering as, “the work of designing and creating large structures or new products or systems by using scientific methods.” Those people created new products so they would today be considered engineers, but they are slightly different. What makes them different is the field that they would be considered a part of. The broadest one of the oldest forms is mechanical engineering, which is my future profession.
Engineers are valuable assets to any company because they think analytically. Engineers may advance to become technical specialists or to supervise a staff or team of engineers and technicians. Some eventually become engineering managers or enter other managerial or sales jobs.
Chemical engineering is the branch of science that deals with both the physical and life aspects of science, and it is used in a lot of industries. It consists of designing, building, and using machinery to create something. The people that are part of this field “use chemistry to bridge the gap between scientific invention and manufactured goods” (College Board). Engineering covers a very broad range of fields, but three job titles related to it include biomedical engineering, aerospace engineering, and nuclear engineering. Aerospace engineers deal with designing and building engines that fly, whether it be in the sky or beyond it. According to Queen Elizabeth II, “At its heart, engineering is about using science to find creative, practical solutions. It is a noble profession.” Engineers use math and science to solve the world’s problems. They also use their knowledge to innovate new types of ideas that people did not know they needed to make their lives better. Different types of engineers use their skills to solve different, select types of problems. For example, biomedical engineers use their knowledge in math, biology, and the medical field to create new inventions that help problems in those fields. Engineers are important to society because they solve important problems in the world with math and science and their technology is used to save lives and make them easier.
Electrical engineers work with the power of electricity in order to create large-scale electrical systems such as motor control and power transmission. Electrical engineers may work on many ranges of projects, from the development of common household items, wiring and lighting of big towers and buildings, telegraphic systems, electrical power house stations, or even satellite transmitters. They plan their designs using computer software’s or sometimes they might even sketch their ideas by hand. To be an electrical engineer one must be good in math and science. The way how electricity runs and the basic laws of nature are required to be an engineer while math is needed to calculate and understand what and how things work with empirical functions and try to improve on the devices by way of math. Also, great reading and writing skills are necessary in becoming a successful electrical engineer. In the electrical engineering field, you are constantly communicating with your co-workers in order to convey information effectively, which is why reading and writing are essential to engineering for clear and direct communication to one another. Throughout my lifetime, I have never had to think very much about the working world and everything that went with it. All through high school I took classes I liked or thought would be interesting to me, but never thought that all of those classes were preparing me for what was to come. Before I knew it, it was time to go to college. The four years of high school had flown by and now it was time to choose a major for college. I had never given much thought as to what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. The only real occupations that I had really gotten to experience were teaching, the jobs that my parents had, and others such as doctors, dentist, most of the occupations that everyone sees while they are growing up. When I finally decided on my major, I chose engineering, but I didn’t know if I would like it or not. The only prior knowledge I had about it was the fact that my grandfather was an electrical and chemical engineer, and that my parents and teachers said that I would be good at engineering. Recently I have been interested in civil engineering, but what does one do with such a degree? What opportunities are available to a person with a degree in civil engineering on the job market? The broad curriculum that covers many different fields of engineering make civil engineering a major that allows a person to work in nearly any field they wish.
