Serial killer’s are classified as people who has continuously commit murders for their own personal gain or fulfillment. Most serial killers are good around people and are strong manipulators. However, many hold the traits of being shy and introverts. Serial killers seek out “prey” or people who look vulnerable or like an easy target. Often times they strive to have more power than others, which is often why they act out with murder. There are three main types of serial killers; the medical killer, the organized killer, and the disorganized killer. They study their victims over the course of days or weeks to create the “perfect crime”. Other serial killers have a challenging childhood. Many come from poor family situations or unstable families with a criminal, psychiatric, and alcoholic households that abuse may or may not be occurring in. Serial criminals are generally more nervous prior to crimes but once they are complete they regain confidence and personal reassurance. Many criminals post-crime take a souvenir such as a part of their victim or the murder weapon. Fantasies that serial killers experience include mental images and feelings. They relieve anxiety or stress the killer’s might be facing. Biological and environmental factors differ depending on their classification and their previous childhood. For example, an organized serial killer often times has a loving family, is married himself, and liked by their friends and family. Although they have most likely had a successful and stable career and gone through a large amount of schooling, they still act out. His birthplace was on a farm in Sapucai, Brazil. Rodrigues first urge to kill was when he was 13 years old. He began to fight with his older cousin which resulted in him pushing the boy into a sugar cane press. The boy sustained injuries but lived. A year later, Rodrigues killed the Vice-Mayor of Minas Gerais because he fired and accused his father, the school guard, of stealing from the school's kitchen. Rodrigues then killed another school guard who supposedly was the real theft of the food. As an adult, he seeked refuge in Mogi das Cruzes, Sao Pablo when he participated in crime and killed drug dealers. He moved in and began a life with Maria Aparecida Olympia until she was killed by gang members years later. Rodrigues searched for his revenge by killing many gang members in a failed attempt to find who killed his girlfriend. By the age of 18 years old, he had left a trail of ten bodies and was soon arrested and sentenced to 30 years in jail. While in jail, he killed over 47 people. Rodrigues watched his father kill his mother with a machete. He suffered from post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), likely due to watching this traumatic event.
