II. Manufacturing:
3D printing has many advantages over traditional construction methods. With the help of 3D printing, an idea can transform a designer’s computer to actual finished product or component, potentially skipping many of traditional manufacturing steps, which includes procurement of parts, creation of moulds, creation of parts using different moulds, welding metal parts together, machining to carve parts from blocks of material and final assembly. It also reduces the amount of material wasted in manufacturing and creates difficult objects with complex geometric structures like fractals which can add strength, or are natural in shape, may reduce weight, or increase functionality. In a typical metal manufacturing, for example, it can create objects with an unique honeycomb structure, while bioprinting on other hand can create organs with an internal network of blood vessels. But there are some limitations of 3D printing currently, which vary by printing technique, include limited object size, relatively slow build speed, limited resolution or object detail, high materials cost and, in some cases, limited strength of object. However, with recent advancement it is possible to overcome these limitations.
The use of 3D printing for producing complex design, with low volumes, and highly customizable products is already increasing. A aircraft company Boeing currently prints 200 different parts for ten of its aircraft platforms. In health care, we see manufacturers offering printed custom hearing aid earpieces, which are selling more than one million units as per 2011 statistics. In addition to that, more than 40,000 acetabular hip cups (used in hip replacement) have been built using 3D printing. Invisalign, the dental applia...

...hich can be a $400 pair of earrings or a necklace that can upto 6 figures. A prospective buyer can search for a perfect engagement ring, for by choosing from one of eight metal options (platinum/gold/silver) then perhaps side stones (emerald/ruby/sapphire/topaz) to book the diamond of his or her choice. American Pearl’s CAD/CAM software platform will outputs a STL digital file that’s perfectly proportional, taking human error out of the process. The company then produces a model using thermoplastic wax which can act as mould.
The customer’s chosen metal is then poured into this specially crafted and precisely-proportioned mould. After it hardens the gemstones are added and the entire process is monitored by expert jeweller. By cutting labour cost and using sophisticated printers American pearl can deliver the piece in3 to 4 days at a rate cheaper than competitors.

A quinceañera receives a gorgeous gift from a family member on her fifteenth birthday, something that she will carry with her forever. In this cultural celebration for our family, it is very important for the father to give his daughter a special jewelry that resembles his love for her on her fifteenth birthday; the way it presents itself, how it would embody her physically, and how it would be carried throughout the years. My father took time and care in choosing the right gift for his princess. The gift that my father gave me was a necklace that touched my heart. It shines when light hits the gold carvings. It glistens in different shades of yellow when the sun comes out. This necklace started as a real gift of nature, so it has some natural variation in the size and shape. Every ornament is unique! The leaf is plated in copper, nickel, and finally gold. The process of the plating leaf into gold made the importance stronger to me, because it is very time consuming. There are two layers of metals applied to the leaf before the gold was applied. These layers help make the leaf very sturdy and long-lasting. It connects to the chain with an oval clip that has small cuts mimicking the shades and shape of a sea shell. The chain has two thin layers of gold crossing together, creating an ong...
Foxy Originals’ current success reside in its owners’ experience, fashionable products, pricing strategy, along with its current market presence. However, one of company’s key assets is its capability to produce high-end jewellery while maintaining manufacturing costs at a minimum. You’re browsing along various websites searching for a new piece of jewelry to add to your collection. Suddenly - you see it. The piece that screams your name. It’s an elaborate piece with large cut diamonds and you just know those can’t be real. But they look so real, so you check out the price.
Solid Freeform Fabrication(SFF) has been possibly the most large scale fabrication technique among the different types of design and fabrication methods (Bose, et al., 2012). The main feature of SFF has three dimensional parts which are printed layer-by-layer depending on computer aided design (ask plagiarism). The fabrication of SFF on polymer, ceramic, metal and composite scaffolds has been widely accepted in bone tissue engineering applications (Bose, et al.,
Final contribution of de beers to the diamond pipeline is the promotion of diamond jewelry for the industry; through advertising campaigns developed from extensive market research; trade promotional activities and jewelry design competitions
The field of bioprinting, using 3D printing technology for producing live cells with extreme accuracy, could be the answer to many of the problems we as humans face in the medical field. It could be the end to organ waiting lists and an alternative for organ transplants. In 3D printing technology lies the potential to replace the testing of new drugs on animals. However, the idea of applying 3 dimensional printing to the health industry is still quite new and yet to have a major impact. Manufacturing working 3D organs remains an enormous challenge, but in theory could solve major issues present today.
To some, the myths and curses of the world hold little power, but to others it formats their entire culture or religion. Over thousands of years people have formulated stories surrounding not only diamonds, but other gemstones as well. It is practiced in religious and symbolic ceremonies that we still believe in today. From offering a diamond ring as a symbol of love and unity to a diamond gift of appreciation for a sixty year anniversary we show that in some form we believe that a diamond can bring unity, love, and longevity. Although the majority of claims happened many years ago, and can be proven false today, they have helped mold the history of the diamond. Diamonds are forever; not only because they are invincible, but because they have a lasting connection to our history.
People nowadays might get the impression that the 3D printing technology is a relatively new concept in our daily life. However, 3D printing technology is invented and utilized in many fields such as creating human organs in healthcare, building architectural models in engineering, even forming components that can be used in aeronautic fields long ago. Since Charles W. Hull has invented the 3D printing technology in the 1980s, scientists, engineers, and even normal people were and still are trying to discover more possibility of the usages and changes on this technology. Same as every invention of the new technology, with its undeniable beneficial effects, 3D printing also faces lots of limitations
There are numerous factors which can affect dimensions of subsequent casts on repetitive pouring. These include the process of polymerization (7), temperature (1), and material used to fabricate the replica or working cast (1). Although, PVS impression materials have demonstrated superior dimensional stability when compared with other elastomeric materials due to no releasing any by-products (8), it had been reported that the dimensional accuracy of a material is time dependent. A material may be highly dimensionally accurate soon after its initial polymerization but less accurate after the storage for a period of time (9). On the other hand, PVS impression materials have chosen as the impression material in many clinical situations because they possess excellent physical properties and handling characteristics
Organ printing or use of fast prototyping, additionally characterized as added substance layer-by-layer bio-manufacturing, is a rising changing innovation that has potential for surpassing conventional printers for strong framework based tissue designing (Pace). Organ printing has certain focal points: it is a computerized approach that offers many different pathways for adaptable reproducible large scale manufacturing of tissue designed items; it produces concurrent 3D situating
The idea was to improve 3d printer with special technology, a single printer, with multi material features, can transform from any 1D strand into 3d shape, 2d surface into 3d shape or morph from one 3d shape into another. The shape of 3d technology is basic mode for 4d. Objet Connex multi-material technology is an 3D printing important part of his work – and is being used extensively in this new process. The Connex multi material technology allows the researchers to program different material properties into each of the various particles of the designed geometry and harnesses the different water-absorbing properties of the materials to active the self-assembly process. With water as its activation energy, this technique promises new possibilities for embedding programmability and simple decision making into non-electronic based materials.
Everyone has heard a cashier one time or another mumble, “Paper or plastic?” as he put their groceries in a bag, but do shoppers know the effects of each vessel in which they carry their comestibles? There are many issues and benefits to both paper and plastic. The making and recycling of both paper and plastic bags can harm the environment. One must also look at the costs of making each bag. The convenience of each is also something to look at. Many people jump to conclusion that paper bags are better for the environment without knowing the facts. Since plastic bags are preferred by customers and plastic bags actually do not hurt the environment as much as paper ones do, consumers should feel at ease when choosing plastic.
The second way is by using computer aided drafting (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) programs on your computer.
